NICE! What brand is it? John
1997 Kinfolks. These were made by Queen for Bluegrass Cutlery. Here is another 1997 canoe that falls into the same category. This one was branded as Crandall. These knives are nice because they have the quality of the Winchester Black Box knives but they also have more variety than just brown jigged bone.IMG_3877.jpeg

Wow. I'd have bet a solid quarter dollar that the 2nd from left was black cherry.
Ever tried sasafrass?

You get standby. In case something happens to me.
No I haven't. I've used walnut, maple, cherry, lime wood, linden, basswood and mulberry but that's the extent of it!

Many woods aren't suitable for food contact and the ones that are can be a real challenge to carve! My most often used woods are basswood and lime wood

I made this knife about 10 years ago from a Camillus electrician’s knife that had a broken screwdriver blade. I took it apart and removed the blade and then put it together with just the spear blade, but modified the blade so it would work with the lock. I then replaced the plastic scales with snakewood and partially serrated the blade. It locks super solidly and has an incredible snap. I love this knife.
