Gotta love the Navy Jacks. You have a mint one there, Bob🤙

Nice work. Left to right, what are the woods? Do you treat them with food safe cutting board oil when they're done?
They are actually all Basswood. The large difference in color is a result of placing them in the oven at 330 degrees anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes to deepen the color and appearance of the grain. They come out looking amazing!

Then I wipe them with mineral oil or board butter and give them a day or two to absorb it before hand washing

Wow. I'd have bet a solid quarter dollar that the 2nd from left was black cherry.
Ever tried sasafrass?

You get standby. In case something happens to me.

It’s a rainy day here in the City by the Bay! More like a heavy drizzle than rain but according to my dog it’s pouring and he did his business very quickly. Going on our weekly pilgrimage to the grocery store a day early. Have to watch the grandkids tomorrow morning while my son plays golf. Keeping me company the Charlie Special and a Mr. Bell Zulu. Have a great weekend folks! 😀

Pocketing my second ever GEC purchase today. I didn’t quite connect with my first purchase, a 2012 small lockback, but this 15 Huckleberry Boys Knife really cemented my love for GEC. I was blown away by the jigged bone and walk and talk of the blades, back in 2015.

I’m also pocketing the new #6 Opinel. What a handy little blade.
