What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Another foggy morning here in the City by the Bay! But it didn’t keep Postie Mike away! He just delivered his beauty. The fit and finish is excellent and my only complaint is that the walk and talk is very weak and pretty much nonexistent on the secondary blade. Going down to babysit the grandkids later and try and watch the 49ers game. Have a great weekend folks! 😀

Yes. I think it was a spey. Now it works pretty well as a leather awl, or for picking out splinters.
Somebody used that blade, and sharpened it. a. lot.

Love the Jack.
My Mom's Dad had one, and now I have it.
It was his Good Knife. He had a few dime store Imperials and Hammer Brand, but this was His Knife. At some point, he broke the spring on the pen blade. It probably just gave out because he used that blade a lot.

I guess vets are like lawyers.
Not your first choice of things to do, but when you need to see one, you need to see one.
Careful with all the pampering. She might not let you stop🥰

The draft horse says, "I should be pulling a log out of the woods. Why am I hooked up to this little wagon?"

I think I would use the one on the right a lot, and the one on the left for nice occasions.

Great sampling. You could tote the one on the left on Saturday for Schradurday.

Everything about your Imperial just comes together to make a gorgeous knife.
Its not a draft horse or even a daft horse, its a dray horse and transports the beer around to the local pubs. 😆

That is dray is what it does, but it is a Shire horse they are hard to get hold of nowadays.

"There are few better sights than Hook Norton’s beautiful shire horses, stamping their feet and snorting on a cold winter’s morning, fully harnessed to a loaded brewers dray weaving its way through local Cotswold villages and country lanes".

They have 3 at the moment and they all have terrific Old English names "Brigadier, Balmoral and Cromwell".

Read all about it.😎

I will be looking forward to it.
No time like the present, Bob! This is a Burt Foster Personal Carry. It's Damascus, 220 layer 01 & 15N20, nickel silver guard, and California Buckeye Burl handle.
Some eerie-looking things are peering out of this one.

Sleep well! LOL!

I started the day sat outside in lovely sunshine cleaning my (washing machine) 15 some more.

I left the blade alone except for a little polish,I used fine enery paper to remove rust from the rest of the knife.

Quite pleased how it came out,now it feels like my knife.

Though I dont plan to do the washing machine trick again. 🤪

Saying that I have laundered money many times before when my wallets gone through a wash, once even a watch (chipped the glass but survived).🤭

Later I went for a pleasent ride on my bike and found some new places and things including WW2 pill boxes and common land.

15 in my pocket along for the journey.

You wait till you see the 3 NOS knives I bought from the Antique Centre. 😁

Thanks, I got lucky fishing on the bay. Since I have stopped trying to get GEC knives, I have been able to discover other brands, Camillus and Ulster are two of my favorites. Yes I am obsessed with the#14 frame, my absolute favorite size, equal end cigar pattern. I am trying to find others on that frame, for me it is the perfect size pocket knife. Partly because of you and your awesome photography on the camp knives thread, which a lot of camp knives are similar in size to the #14 frame. I have been meaning to take more pics what I acquired so far. The bone covers , Rogers bone I think, on the Camillus knives is mesmerizing.

It fills me with joy, to hear that somebody else feels the same way. That 14 frame is just so perfect. Not too heavy. Not too long. Not too tall. And so, so versatile. The Camillus blueprints for the 14 frame show a ton of blades that could be used with it. I’m not sure if all the blade shapes were ever actually used on the #14, but one can hope. Maybe in contract builds for other brands, which can be fun to track down.

And yeah, that war time bone was just fantastic!!!! It blows my mind that Camillus was pumping out these knives as fast as they could possibly be made, and with such astonishing quality. It’s a real testament to the old world craftsman they employed during these years.
