What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I'm still rocking the ironwood barlow today. This may have my favorite blade combination, clip point and long coping blade. GEC does both of these blade shapes quite well on the 77 barlow. The clip is fairly meaty, without excessive upsweep, and the coping blade is nice and long. No recurve on either blade, so sharpening is straightforward. Both blade's points allow for good attention to detail on cuts, without sacrificing too much durability. But you can still get down and dirty with the clip point, and make long sweeping slices with the blade's belly.

I will also mention that, after a few years of carrying nothing but Victorinox knives, I'd forgotten how much I love GEC's carbon steel. Yes, corrosion gives me fits during hot and humid summer months, but it is just such a pleasure to sharpen these blades. No wire edge nightmares. You can run them coarse for durability, or polish the edges for finer slicing. Heat treatment isn't so soft that the edges tend to roll over on you. People rave about the fit and finish on GEC knives, the variety of interesting patterns, and all of the wonderful cover options, but I think that the actual usability of these knives for common tasks tends to get left out of the conversation. These are exceptional good utility knives.

I know it's blasphemy, but whenever I pick up this 77 and thumb through the blades, I inevitably ask myself "Why do I own any other knives?". From a purely functional standpoint, this knife could easily accomplish 95% of the my knife-related tasks, and still probably handle another 3% with careful effort. The frame is larger and more capable than the 15, but still rides nicely in a pocket. Not so large as an 86, where you're quickly entering belt pouch territory. It's just right for a working man.

Another cool and foggy day here in the City by the Bay 🥶. Not much on the agenda for today though I will spend some time scouring the latest issue of G&A. Been telling myself for years add a CZ-75 to my collection but we’ll see. Keeping me company with a nod to Black Friday the usual lamb and SAK-CL. Have a great day folks! 😀

Buzz, your description of the 77 accurately reflects my thoughts on the Eureka that I modified into a clip main.
The #92's wrap-around spring and curvier frame are favorite features of mine.
Just about the perfect pocket knife, except I would prefer good stainless.

That is beautiful!!!! So much more interesting, and works far better aesthetically with the 92 frame than a spear point. There's just something about the 92's spear that robs from what should be a stellar example of master craft.

Miscellaneous Knife of the Week is a Rough Rider baby copperhead:

Lambsfoot of the Week is LamBarJack, my rosewood Hartshead lambsfoot Barlow. The knife is shown with a knit cap I wear in the winter; didn't have the cap with us for a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula for the past 2 weeks, but could have used it. I've been taking the dog for a 1.5 mile walk first thing each morning, and we usually walk past a bank with time/temp display outside sometime between 6am and 7am. One morning this week when we passed the sign the temp was 39˚F, and a couple of other mornings it was 45. No day this week has made it up to 70 for a high temp. Too cold for August IMHO!

For the CZ-75, get it, you won’t regret it. It is one of the most ergonomic, reliable, and softest/smoothest shooting pistols I own.
