What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Brett, are the scales on those "beer barrels" rough or smooth? I have been interested in those knives for a while now but was concerned about the roughness.

Who's the maker?

Form what I could find on it the knife was made in Germany somewhere around 1880 by knife maker John S. Holler
It is on display the Smithsonian Museum
