I've never carried this old TL-29. I bought for less than the shipping fee planning on re-scaling it. May still do that/may not. For some reason, it reminds me of r8shell r8shell . And I don't feel the broken cocobolo in my hand. Looks like hell, but I hate to lose the TL-29 stamp. I will file down the sharp ends of the broken shackle (bail in some parts of the country). I do feel those.
Springs seem factory fresh, snap is great.
I like how Schrade stamped both blades.

Bonus point if you can tell me where I bought that hat!
Did someone call me? That old TL-29 has lots of years left in it. If it gets uncomfortable to hold, you can always patch it with some epoxy.

Here's one I did, adding some brown powder pigment to somewhat match the bone:

After:

Anyway...here's what was in my pocket today (it also has a little bit of epoxy on it)

I think I know where the hat came from, but I admit I cheated by consulting Google.

Very nice job on the repair! 👍🏻

Some people describe it as a Reverse Gunstock and others as Humpback Whittler . It does have some look as a Gunstock knife but the end is tipped up at the end . It does have the blades of a Whittler . I saw where one person called it a Founders knife . I tend to think of it as a Gunstock Whittler with some decent Stag and very comfortable grip even though I will never use it as that .

Harry, do you know what year NKCA produced that knife?

Sorry to hear about your dog's eye GT 5K Qs 5K Qs . Hope everything works out ok for it.
Thanks, ED. :)
Gandalf our dog left for the hospital at about 7:45am and returned home, alive but with one fewer eye, about 6:45pm. The surgeon says everything went well, although his recovery from the sedation was slower than normal, but he's old. He seems to be doing OK at home so far, although he hasn't eaten anything except a couple small pieces of chicken. He has a week of "cone of shame" wearing ahead of him.

The carbon steel gets a bit keener and strops back very well. Probably going to need a few more in various sizes!
Isn't that the way it always goes?? ;)🤓 I think you need at least No. 6, 7, 8, and I wonder if you could turn one of those chestnut/garlic knives into a wondrous whittler.
At least "a few more" Opinels don't have a huge effect on retirement funding!

Hey, did you get new boots, H&S? Those look good!:thumbsup::cool:
I always admired how mint your brown ones always looked.
What brand are these? I need to get some new boots before winter.
(Seriously thinking about Wolverine 6" soft toe Floorhand model.)

Thorogood 814-6201.
I still have my Thorogood 4364 for general wear and after 6 years they're still going strong, but these are my new work boots that I'm breaking in.

I had an issue on the inside of the right boot, but otherwise after 3 years they do have tons of life left in them and without that 1 issue I wouldn't have needed to replace them.
At $275 shipped they're definitely a lot more expensive than those Wolverine's you're looking at, but they are very worth it.

And just to keep with the knife content, I didn't actually carry it but I was using my old western f48a out in my work shop today shaping a hatchet handle.
