This western red cedar was free. It used to be our fireplace mantle.
Going to make a super lightweight Telecaster.

I've never seen the conductive paint for the cavities in green. I've only ever seen the dark gray stuff, or copper tape.

I look forward to seeing the finished guitar - that cedar looks great!

Mornin Tyson!
That's just painter's masking tape to keep finish out of the cavities. I have not decided if I'll bother shielding on this one. It's kind of a PITA, and I'm not the best with soldering irons.
On my home built that I play regularly on Sundays, all I did was properly ground the pickups and bridge ~ no cavity shielding. No noise, no 60hz hum. Fender AVRI '62 pickups. We'll see with this one.
I'd planned on making this translucent white blond, but Vik outvoted me. So I put on a bunch of coats of danish oil. I'll let it cure for three days, and put on a clear coat. Haven't decided between french polished super blond shellac, or wipe on poly.
The poly would be easier, but the shellac will add a little color. Shellac is great to work with. And I have a mason jar mixed up and ready.
