Rehearsal today ~ first time out of the house for this Telecaster shaped object. I just finished doing the set-up yesterday.
I like the Western Red Cedar as a guitar more than my wife liked it as our fireplace mantle.
O.C.Duff pickups, and mostly Fender hardware, but I did cut my own pickguard out of a sheet of bakelite, and made my own string retainer.

I think I should treat myself to a nice new strap.

An early start to the day here in the City by the Bay! Looks like a lot of sunshine in the foreseeable future🌞🤞. Nothing much on the agenda for the day but keeping me company with a nod to Black Friday a couple of ebony. Have a great weekend folks! 😀

That looks beautiful. I've never used a bakelite pickguard, but I've heard that they can build up static electricity and make the guitar a little noisy. I'd curious to hear how this works out for you. I love the look of the cedar, and I'm glad you didn't paint it!

Depite what day it's suppose to be - Wooden Wednesday, Micarta Monday, Black Freday, etc. - I'm carrying this Reminton Mini-Trapper today. It was just calling to me when I opened my knife box this morning. Sticking close to home today gathering tax papers together - oh joy! Sausage and waffles for breakfast.

Thanks, Tyson ~ no, I've never had any issues with bakelite. Second one I've cut from this sheet. I figured one of the reasons Leo used it was it's such a good insulator.

No static, or 60 cycle hum. As usual, I did no shielding/grounding of any cavities, just made sure the pickups, bridge, and jack were grounded.

Thanks, Michael!
Sounded great this morning with the band😎
Love these pickups.

The Stone Killer 1973

Watching that film now for the first time, never heard of it before.

Meantime my first GEC a 74 teams up with my latest GEC a Bison Belly generously gifted to me by Chui (Paul).

Theses are both light, strong, sit well in the pocket and are the perfect EDC size for most tasks.

In other news I bought my neighbour some daffodils, she sent me a very nice card at Christmas.

It’s common in England at this time of year to find small bundles of daffodils at the till as you check, cost about a pound.

I think it’s great, nice and easy and brightens the grey days up a bit. ☀️
