Another beautiful day here in the City by the Bay! Looking like I may be taking a hiatus from the Porch for a while. I’ve got some health issues to deal with, more gastrointestinal problems. In the meantime for Stag Saturday one of my favorite! Have a great weekend folks! 😀
We'll all be rooting for you to get that fixed up.

Today's carry is a Boker Germany Copperhead. Stag and D2

Mom, who's almost 89 had a nasty fall on Tuesday. It's only by the grace of God that I'd already been planning to go down there (I'm 50 miles away). Best I can figure she'd lain there 3 or 4 hours before I found her and got her to the hospital. Three broken ribs and a UTI, so I have been here every day.
I'm going to have to make some decisions about a new living arrangement for her. Sometimes life is tough.

Trying to touch up the edges on my old four liners, between trying to help her get comfortable and get her to eat.

I know recovery takes longer as we age, but hope you mom is finding some comfort Jeff.

I hope your Mom's not in too much pain. If your she's still fairly independent, maybe home health aids are an option. My Mom died 12 years ago, so I haven't run the numbers lately, but I think even round the clock care would be cheaper than a nursing home. Just a thought.

Sorry about your mom's fall and injuries. I hope she heals quickly.

That is definitely one option we're looking at. Live-in facilities are 10 to 15K/month.

They were almost $30K here a month for skilled care when we were looking at them. Medicare will pay most of it, but it's usually better for Mom to stay in her own home as long as possible.
That's exactly the wise advice our lawyer gave us ~ give her a year at least to grieve before rushing her into another traumatic event like moving out of her home.
She was able to stay in her big house for two years after we lost Dad. The chairlift and safety bathroom I had put in helped, but whether she returns home is going to depend on how well she recovers.
In elderly folks, a UTI can kick off dementia like symptoms. We're hoping it's temporary.
