I'm not a huge fan of the Barlow pattern, probably because I prefer using a longer knife. But I sure find the bolster stamps on Barlows to be very interesting.

Bob, I grew up farming and a stockman was the preferred knife. It handled everything needed on the farm and other areas. Hopefully it becomes a favorite of yours.

And/or the 14, and whatever is the next larger Barlow they make ... perhaps with a stainless version in all three sizes for those who prefer GEC's 440C?
(There is no question in my (alleged/so called) "mind" that the collectors would buy at least one of all the sizes in both 1095 and 440C in all handles offered (bone, stag, acrylic, micarta, etc.) ... and complain they are "sold out" inside 0.0005 seconds after the release. )

(it seems there are quite a few that prefer stainless ... and 440C is a good one ... tho difficult to sharpen on a Arkansas oil Stone, or smooth river rock, if ("when") you neglected to bring your sharpening stone on that week (or longer) camping/fishing/hunting expedition....

I briefly pawed through a few cigar boxes, but this pair remains on duty. I just like them.

When you're retired, you no longer have that daily grind to remind you of what day it is. You rely on other markers to keep track of the days. For example, Friday is band rehearsal day, so I know what day today is.
