Thanks Kurt! It’s been a few years since I’ve been down to Fisherman’s Wharf and that was before Chonkers showed up. Rumor has it that he’s somewhat of a bully but given his size that’s not surprising .

It was super fun. We only had about a quarter of the class there, though. A lot of people have moved away.

I went to my 50th HS reunion 7 years ago; it was weird, but fairly wonderful; I hadn't seen most of the people there since graduation night. I think it was the only "official" reunion our class had ever had; I certainly hadn't heard of any earlier ones. We had a pretty good turnout, although, like yours, it was mostly local people; I drove 60 miles each way to attend. I was surprised how many classmates had passed away in the intervening half-century.

We had our 45th anniversary yesterday, but Mrs Fleschwund was in SD escorting her parents to a funeral. Neither one of them is safe to drive that distance.
Or any distance if you ask me.
I celebrated by getting Duncan through the final exam to earn his Intermediate AKC Canine Good Citizenship ribbon. Total miracle.
I might have played guitar too.

Our 41st is a month from today, but I doubt if we'll catch up to you. The pastor at my Dad's funeral in December mentioned that Dad had been proud that he'd been married 73 years (I think), but it had taken him 2 wives to do it.
Congrats to you and Duncan, too, on his major award!

I especially like the coloring; is that "stock" from the factory, or did you "enhance" the color with dye?

I'd probably say that stag is my favorite cover material for folding knives, Greg. But a lot of stag knives couldn't "hold a candle" to the bone on your Camillus IMHO!

I was going through some paperwork in the safe and pulled out a couple advertising knives from where one of my Grandpas used to work.

I've read a lot of King's books, but I've never read any of the Dark Tower ones.
But Hearts in Atlantis and The Stand are a couple of my favorite King novels (and probably in my Top 5 of recreational reading).

Is it true GEC is coming out with one called the Pinocchio with a longer blade?

Many years ago, I came home from work to find my son, (he's 51 years old now), and the neighbor boy, destroying their metal Tonka trucks in the back yard with their Wrist Rocket slingshots, and marbles. There was metal truck parts, and broken glass from the marbles all over the place. I wasn't happy.

WW! My 2 younger brothers had several Tonka vehicles when we were young (I was mesmerized by the road grader), and I'd have bet they were indestructible! But we never tried blowing them up with projectiles.

Temps warming up and the sun is shining. If that keeps up, I'll be ale to mow the backyard tomorrow. It's a single blade Scout Trapper in my pocket today. Sausge and eggs-up for breaakfast.

I should have mowed the back yard at least 2 weeks ago, but I try not to mow before May; I have my principles!
Did it this morning wearing hood and gloves. (Mower didn't start on first pull of the season, but it did start on my first "serious" pull after 3 geezer ones.)

We had some fairly violent storms yesterday. No big branches down, but leaves and twigs everywhere. Hail will do that. I haven't looked at the truck yet, but the car has a few more hail dings in it. This was yesterday:

It was sunny a couple of hours ago, but now its raining hard. Severe thunderstorm warnings in the counties to the south.

Actually, marbles were more for boys. Aside from using as sling shot ammunition, we would have contests. Marble in the center of a ~12" circle drawn in the dirt. Use your thumb to shoot your own marble at the target marble. Try to hit it and knock it out of the circle. Winner gets the other guy's shooter marble. (A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.)

I've read about marbles games like Frank describes, but I don't think I EVER shot a marble with my thumb.
In grade school, we played a marbles game that was kind of like horseshoes/bowling. Used a shoe heel to dig about a 4" wide hole in the dirt near the wall of the school where rain runoff from the roof left a strip of bare, packed dirt. Every player "anted" a regular marble into the hole, and then we used our big marbles (we called them boulders) to roll toward the hole from behind a line about 20 feet away. Closest to the hole won all the marbles in the "pot". I don't remember how we broke ties; maybe it was just a re-roll with those tied for closest on first try.
