What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Somebody did a good job reshaping that Brooksbank - I never would have guessed it had been a lambsfoot.

My guess is that the original tip broke and it was re-ground, leaves the new tip a little exposed, so I carry it in a pouch. Here's an image from the Sheffield Museums collection.

...but unbeknownst to me my new Gallic aquisition was to arrive at work this morning, two days early!

Guy Vialis 'Le Camembert' in Boxwood.

I am instantly in love with it and its even UK friendly!!!

Shall try and get some better photo's later on :o

That sure is a great looking knife Thom!
Looking forward to seeing more of it...

ohhhh...the 'Le Camembert' is beautiful! It has wonderful lines and that handle is super nice, Thom!!

'Ello 'Ello! Very nice sir, you kept that one quiet ;) Looks a beauty, glad you're pleased with it

Merci buckets gents.

Although boxwood appears a little bland there is some figuring going on. It feels great though, and has a wonderful finnish to it. It's also THE traditional material of choice for french cutlery.

This is contemporary design, but I believe ticks plenty of traditional boxes. I'll be carrying this for a while...excluding my trip away next week.

I'll have to keep searching for the juniper handled knife I'm after....whom I kidding, I have several bookmarked....but whichever one I choose will have to wait. It shall likely be more traditional in design.

Thom, that 'Camembert' is a truly impressive knife, looks like it was born to be in the hand!

And you're right, Box is a fine Traditional wood, just wait for the years to add to it, supreme. You know, the horn handled Italian slipjoint you sent me continues to please me a lot every day.

Today it was a GEC 73 linerlock from 08 in thick Sambar.

Thanks, Will

Sam - Thank you sir. I struggle to keep up with all the new beauties you have been feasting us with

Will - thank you. So it ages well? I'm hoping/thinking it shall darken a little. It'll be great to see. I've just used it for some light food prep, mainly finely dicing some garlic for hummus. It was superb for this task. I think it shall prove to be a great purchase.

Great to read that wee Fox is still proving its worth in your pocket. My Case Swayback continues to be a great companion....especially on t-bone Tuesdays. I think it shall prove a great companion to the Camembert too!

Take care my friends.
