A very generous and thoughtful gift from Charlie with me today.

Flanked by, IMHO, his greatest creation. So refined is this pattern. The brass accents have that classic look. The jigging is superb as is the diamond shield. And that nice mellow pull on the main. It just doesn't get much better. :thumbup:

Very nice, ~P.

I'd like to think that Muir carried a small pocket knife on his wanderings. :thumbup:

A nice thought, indeed. A friend recently gave me the sign as a belated birthday gift. Muir's words, in the right blue, are almost too much. The ache....

One of these days.

Oh, I hope.

OOOHHHH! Primitive Bone I assume? That stuff can best stag in my view.

Yes, and entirely agreed. I'm so glad to have fallen into this one.

But what's that pattern please? Half-Whitt??

Nay, sir-- this is the Full Monty Geppetto. Behold:

My mid-day lighting is washing out the nuances of color. Here are a couple pictures from the previous owner (middle knife):

My attempt to capture some of the delectable "crackle":

I've not been sure of the dogleg frame shape, of which this is a reverse (too squiggly in my eyes), but this knife is fine, so fine. I'm very pleased. :)

"Truth has no path. Truth is living and, therefore, changing. Awareness is without choice, without demand, without anxiety; in that state of mind, there is perception. To know oneself is to study oneself in action with another person. Awareness has no frontier; it is giving of your whole being, without exclusion. Truth is a pathless land. When there is freedom from mechanical conditioning, there is simplicity. The classical man is just a bundle of routine, ideas and tradition. If you follow the classical pattern, you are understanding the routine, the tradition, the shadow — you are not understanding yourself."

~Bruce Lee~

"Into a soul absolutely free

From thoughts and emotion,

Even the tiger finds no room

To insert its fierce claws.

One and the same breeze passes

Over the pines on the mountain

And the oak trees in the valley ;

And why do they give different notes ?

No thinking, no reflecting,

Perfect emptiness;

Yet therein something moves.

Following its own course.

The eye sees it,

But no hand can hold it-

The moon in the stream.

Clouds and mists,

They appear midair transformations;

Above them eternally shine the sun and the moon.

Victory is for the one,

Even before the combat,

Who has no thought of himself,

Abiding in the no-mind-ness of Great Origin"

It really grows on you, doesn't it. It may look funny, but somehow it just works for me...

Those Yorkshire Dales look like a wonderful place to be. Then there are those of us in Cleveland...

Very nice Will, is that horn?

It's in Knaresborough in North Yorkshire. Here's a pic showing its role as a railway viaduct. Both shots are taken from Knaresborough Castle :)

Thanks for the pics Scott. I've not seen one like that on sale even over here. Sorry to read (in your Pipe Knife thread post) about the flaws, but it looks impressive :) :thumbup:

Thank very much for sharing. Its beautiful.

It's nice to see some green grass behind those beautiful knives. Our grass is about half free of snow-cover, but still straw-colored.

Yes, I guess all the rain we get does have an up side too! :D :thumbup:

That particular spot is about an hour on the train from where I live, but the Dales start much closer :)

Thank very much for sharing. Its beautiful.

You're welcome. One of my favourite views :)

New day already here and time for me to turn in. But I hope this Conductor will be coming along with me later today. Faux Tortoise meets Former Tortoise:D:eek:
