What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

The wear is just fantastic on this knife. You can see the use on the blade, and the pattern on the handle shows just how much it's been carried. All of my knives still look fairly new other than some patina on various carbon blades. Give my knives a few years and maybe they'll start to approach this. The SAKs will probably take the longest as they're built like tanks.

Thanks Andy! It feels better in hand than any other ALOX I own...still tight and snappy, probably only has a 75-100 years of useful life left.... :D

SAK, your pictures just knock me out. Whatever that is you use for a background, along with that beautiful old ashtray just make colors pop. Very nice.

Thanks Bob! It's an old and weathered, metal welder's table. Made to hold rods/brushes etc...it happens to be out on the porch where I sit to smoke my stogies so, me being lazy and shiftless, it just naturally evolved into my fav background. :D

I agree, it is a striking color/texture for a background. I ain't been out of the photography business so long that I don't recognize a good background when I see it. :thumbup: :D

Hah! This Case canoe is a far better knife than I had understood it to be when I first purchased it six months ago. I have far more expensive knives, but I don't know that any are more versatile than this. It just feels right in the hand. Extremely sharp.

Now the mammoth Norfolk Whittler - it's in a class by itself. Not the largest knife. But the ergos for such a small piece are impressive. Northwoods/GEC did a great job on this one.

Added my ole red bone 1971 Case XX USA Cigar Jack fer the afternoon. It's a nice carry size at 3 3/8 inches closed. ;)

Ok....tell us more about the nickel.....:eek: A Hobo Nickel?

Awesome Harness Jack Paul! I'm going to have find something to trade you to that super nickel. :D

SAK and Primble, thanks for the compliment:thumbup:

We owned a family furniture store for 45 years---many of those years I managed it for my Dad. Anytime currency was put in the till---coin or paper I always had to snoop. If change is dropped on a table I can hear if there's Silver in the lot;)

Anyway, years ago one came through our store and until recently I hadn't given it much thought---I saw Nikki had shown one a few weeks back. The name "Hobo Nickel" comes from Hobo's carving images in the Buffalo Nickels in the 20's and 30's. Because of their thickness they were a popular coin to use. It's actually been done for many many years but the "Hobo Nickels" kind of had that folk art charm to them. Akin to trench art?

They used other coins as well but the Nickel is a popular size:thumbup: They are making a resurgence as of late---like this one. I have the older one I came across in the late 70's but would have to see if I could track it down:o

Primble, I love that CASE!!!

A very cool little Tina 606 folder wharncliff blade style kinda like a chiseledge in a way, more for grafting but also a handy edc too;

Thanks for the HJ compliment Brian:thumbup: That's terrible that someone stole it!!! Next to knives currency---coin or paper is another passion of mine. My grandmother passed many years ago but she had a solid gold coin in her little strong box---I was to young to remember what it was other than her telling me it was Gold? Somewhere along the line it disappeared.

She had many old $2.00 bills with the red stamps, also "Silver Certificates" and the like. She is actually the person in my life that started my interest in pocketknives;)

Those Tina's are sweet knives no? I really like the way the pivot is recessed so that the frame offers more strength to the blade.
