What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That's a very interesting gerber there. I've not seen this one. The way they have connected the bolsters is unique. I guess theyre not really bolsters anymore...

Just this Opinel #8 that I just finished modifying. I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out, although it is a little big for everyday carry.

Maverick299, is that an original Sportsman from the 80's? Sure looks like it.

Do you have the leather sheath that came with it?

I always have this Farmer in my bag of tricks, but haven't put it in my pocket for awhile. I decided it deserved a little pocket time. One of my favorite knives.

I've loved Schrade knives since I was a kid, got this one new for less than $20 I think...a LONG time ago...

For overall ruggedness you can't beat a Vic SAK ALOX...had this one for about 15 years...been used A LOT...

And, as always, a folding hunter...I switch off from various ones in my collection...this one I had to take apart to clean and stretch the springs a bit...

It's a sheath/steel combo made by Victorinox that I found on that auction site. Just look up Swiss Army Knife Sheath and you'll pull up a whole slew of vendors who have these.

I've got a Case XX steel like that I probably bought back in the '70's at a Hardware store that sold Case Knives.

Thanks a lot my friend, I have Paul H to thank for that lovely old Boker :)

Interestingly, some of the Sheffield cutlers have for many years sold knives accompanied by identical steels. I first bought one on its own in 1981, and it was claimed on the packaging that it was made in Sheffield.

Just looked at mine looking to see if Case was on the grip/handle and nothing there, but thought I saw something on the grooved shaft looking like stamping. Got out my 10X magnifier and sure enough it's stamped Case XX Sheffield England just below the grip. Had it since at least before'82 and never saw that, just knew I bought it out of a Case display at a hardware store I dealt with living in the famous City with the tree growing on the roof or the courthouse in Indiana.

Wow, very interesting:thumbup: I gave mine away years ago when I got a fancy diamond-coated thing that I don't remember having that long. I have a nice pocket steel ScruffUK gave me now, but I still regularly see those wee steels on sale in Sheffield :)

I have gone very minimalist and just carry a Victorinox Alox Cadet. For a while I was shadowing RSmith_77s "New Year's Resolution" and carrying on the Case Small Texas Jack and the Cadet, but for the past month (actually longer) it has just been the Cadet.

No pics handy other than the ones showing it with the Case, but I've recycled those enough. It's a standard silver Alox Cadet, looks like all of the others.
