What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Mamma Mia, Stephen!!:thumbup: Is it a single spring?

Thanks, and yes, it's a single spring. Here's a couple more pictures, although I must confess that I don't know much about it yet. I just got it yesterday and am trying to do a bit of research, but couldn't resist carrying it today. The rear of the main is stamped 22519 which based on my limited knowledge about Cattaraugus numbering indicates that it's a 2 blade, 2 bolster, bone jigged knife with a pattern number of 51. It's odd to me that the front of the main is stamped only Stainless... but I'm not an expert and don't know if the lack of a Cattaraugus stamping is cause for concern. Regardless, I only gave $33 and am quite happy with it. Thanks again!

If anyone else can offer any information about it, I'd be happy for the input.

Case slimline trapper in CV today working in the shop putting my mower back together and I found this dude. Never seen so many walking sticks in my life since we moved to Missouri. This feller reminds me of the alien in Aliens that eats peoples faces. He's bigger than my trapper!!!

Carrying my sunfish again. Recycled photo because I don't think I could take a better one if I tried...

Yes indeed, fantastic pics, as always, Primble, those are both lovely knives.

I'm afraid someone else beat me to that penny Gev, though it may have originally come from my bank ;.

Thank you Gevo and Jack - I paid 2 dollars for the penny at a flea market event, at the local fairgrounds last weekend. Not sure if 2 dollars for a penny is a really good deal.:confused::rolleyes:

pistonsandgears - my favorite of the Scouts.:)

Andi - That is a sweet white owl.:)

Thank you sir. Love the stag on your IXL whittler, the pouch makes it over the top! Wonderful combo ...
Thank you Chief. :thumbup::)

Additionally, I wonder if the handle material on my Saynor is original? I see in "Old Catalogs" that they were made in such a material but wonder if anyone knows for certain???? Jack?
What is the handle material Gevo - the handles (wood?) look a bit newer or fresher than the blade in the pic? Hard to say by just looking at the photo, but, it might have been re-handled or simply over-cleaned with sandpaper. Either way, it may have been done for good reasons - unknown to us. You could always try some aging techniques on it. Many times, if you wait for the aging process to re-appear on it's own - you might be gone first.;)

Old & In The Way - beautiful Cattaraugus Stephen and stainless to boot! ;):)

Thank you Primble. I see no signs of any etching or stamps on the blade. Good to know I was just looking in the wrong era.
Sometimes the era is about the best one can do on these old knives. ;)

The handle material is some kind of composite, I guess. I will get some higher magnification on it later. It was definitely cleaned at some point. It is was recovered,it was done well.

Stephen
Thanks for the extra shot!! It was a great acquisition!!
