What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That is one great looking knife! The contrast between the dark blade and light handles really sets it off.

Here is my carry on this very muggy day.

Please tell about the bolstered canoe. :)

Thanks, I was thinking maybe Schrade, but appreciate you confirming it. Just a terrific old knife. I'd love to see GEC do a similar blade combination on their 68 frame (with peachseed of course). Thanks again.

My pleasure, Stephen. I looked for a picture, I know there is one somewhere, but cannot find it. I will shoot more soon. Great idea on the 68 and I think I remember someone saying they wanted to see a stockman with a spear?

I am carrying this today as I wash my cats.

I will upgrade to something better after they are clean.

This Opinel Slim. Except that I have now turned it in to a friction folder (without the locking ring) and otherwise customized the knife a bit (took a little bit off the sides to make the handle more oval, burned and oiled the handle, dremeled the shoulder of the blade just a tiny bit to eliminate the downward lean of the blade etc). It is feather light and a good slicer.

Today I decided to pull this old Gerber out of retirement and carry it.

This knife has been very well used in its lifetime, but is still in very good shape, it was carried as my only knife for at least 16 years, if not longer.

I was just perusing this thread yesterday when my internet went down, so playing catch-up now.

Jack -

I'll see your RJ and Magnum and raise you an HJ and Pemberton. Take that.:p

:D

Jack - how's the pull on the Joker? I had shied away from Altors despite being interested because I had read how firm the pull was on some of the models. The Joker is also very intriguing to me. Thanks in advance.

I've found the pull on both Aitors and Jokers to be mild Stephen. I'll pick a Joker up for you the next time I across one

Thanks Jack, it was great, just the right amount of heat. Hope yours was as delicious!

Thanks Kris, I'm glad to hear that, mine wasn't bad

My humble douk douk.

Looks like you've got some work on my friend. Nice combo

Continuing my exclusive use of the new Zuava, taking all other knives out of daily rotation so's to really feel out what the new knife will do, and grow to know the feel of it well. So far, not much it won't do in the way of daily pocket knife chores. Sometimes I miss the three blades of the Northwoods stockman though. But the handle shape is really nice!

Thanks for giving it a go Carl

Happy to continue the theme:)

I'm hoping GEC will do a run of #73's in it. Lovely stuff.

Sam

Very nice sir

It is an A.G. Russell reverse congress that I recently bought off the exchange. The rest is copied off the sale thread by AFAustin.
A. G. Russell Reverse Congress folders, #AG-438CR. These knives are discontinued. They are made in Japan and the steel is AUS-8A.
I was able to identify them with the help of the good folks at A.G. Russell, who located them in the 1998 catalog

Sounds like the sort of job that should be outsourced to me; beautiful Davison though. ;)
I agree completely on the knife and cats!

Love those slim opinels. Would love to see more pics.

In response to the request for a face shot of the 1790 Austrian watch and a knife of course ...here ya go. The knife is a an old Schrade Cut Co with stock chain.

Thank you! That is really beautiful.
When you say "stock chain," do you mean it is original to the knife?

From distant lands, my pockets are full and my head is dry:
