What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

My dad gave me a bunch of awesome knives today, and I'm carrying this beast (after a little flitz and oil, he used it well):

Sorry guys but I am going to double post this old girl:o The first pictures just didn't do her justice---I owe it to Primble, Gev and the like as there are so many excellent pictures in this thread:thumbup: It's always good to have the bar set high;)

Medium pulls and ROCK SOLID blades with ZERO play:thumbup:

So, here she is in better light conditions. Vintage Camillus Jack with home made repair to back cover---so sharp she can split atoms:D

And justice you have achieved, Paul!! Lovely bone...you captured the rich color and wonderful jigging. Perfect tear drop shape ...true to form!! Nice full blades. What repair;)

What a treat!! Great photographs, my friend:D

Lovely, lovely, lovely, Paul . . . did I say lovely? ;)

Thank you Jeff, I had it on the jobsite earlier and just couldn't give her the justice she deserves picture wise:)

Why thank you Gev:thumbup: the picture both you and Primble posted earlier are amazing pictures of amazing knives and this old girl has seen better days but I just love how solid she still is after all these years. Amazing cutlers left a mark for all to see these many many years later;)

That's gorgeous, Paul!

Thanks Gary, I not only love the knives you posted earlier but your home as well:thumbup: Similar to my place...born here and will die here and nothing makes me happier:)

Jack - it appears that you're in the Halloween mood early this year with the black and orange knives. :)

Will - your Boker stockman looks very nice.

ismaris - Wow! Very nice knife. That one puts the XL in IXL. ;)

akula83 - another terrific looking yellow stockman.

Primble - looks like we both carried EO's today, but your's takes the prize. I like the Crimson Bull Nose too. :D And as for that other IXL that is 'floating around these parts', I've had it's scales validated as a rare, genetically engineered combination of both stag and bone by the local Shell gas station attendant... and Bubba should know. He even went so far as to have his cousin Jethro over in Sheffield (Alabama) confirm his conclusion. ;) :p

Paul - I'm not a big fan of delrin either, but it is a very practical scale choice and is very durable.

RICKSTER - your mail didn't stand a chance in the face of that Bull Buster.

Sarah - lovely blue Radio Jack. Very unique.

Andi - glad to hear that you're staying strong. Your grail knife must be a comfort to you during this time. ;)

squazy - congrats on the wonderful new lock back whittler.

Gevonovich - another home run. Stunning knife and photo! And an encore performance by your Chambers? Have mercy.

Paul - wonderful photos (both sets). Awesome job on the repair. Your old Camilus is just wonderful.

Jeff - butter & molasses... mmm, yummy.

Gary - nice knives and lovely property you have.

ALLHSS - the 'beast' seems an appropriate moniker for that one. Nice!

Pete - really nice damascus Peanut.

Ryan - terrific patina on your Sodbuster. I watched the Giants game last night - ouch!

Thanks Steven, had the soddie for awhile, think its my first traditional i bought myself
and yeah i saw the giants game too, double ouch, i think i need a hug :p

@ Stephen... Thank you Stephen beautiful EO you pocketed today...I wish I could claim the repair skills but I was able to acquire her already repaired. The knife is better off with me not having a hand in it's repair:D

Paul, That Camillus is a beauty !
I have the Case Humpback with me on this fine Monday. Have a great week everyone.

Thanks Kevin, I had that same Humpback and regret to this day letting it go:o Enjoy your week as well buddy:thumbup:

Some really nice knives everybody! Your Case has it, you just know you can tackle just about anything with this bad boy.

These two were with me as my son and I moved and stacked some old firewood in the back 40.

Great to see Gary - a very nice place!!! ;):)

Home just long enough to post a photo of today's carry and then off again to one of the kids' soccer match.

Well - I like my old Utica EO, but, I would not agree that mine takes the prize.:o The one you posted is awesome.:thumbup::)

Looks like you, Paul, and I all had similar taste in a carry knife today.:thumbup::)

As far as that old IXL floating around, your validation by Bubba and Jethro over in Sheffield are probably as good as any. :D

The fact that so many of us at first think it is stag and then question it makes me think that we are seeing something different or something we have not encountered before.

I don't see anyone jumping in and giving any kind of firm answer on the "pressed stag", if there is one to be found. I looked closely at that IXL through a magnifying glass and it clearly has pores. AFTER READING THOSE ARTICLES, I now believe that material to be pressed horn - pressed in molds, then dyed and made to mimic gnarly stag - then given the name, "pressed stag". You will remember that Case had a 6.5 bonestag that was just jigged cattle bone. I think the old cutlers came up with the name "pressed stag" to differentiate from real stag - not real stag, but, had/has a look of stag. That is my opinion for now and will remain until I see something that convinces me otherwise.

I see you came home and did that knife justice Paul - a great picture of it and a great knife to boot.:thumbup::) Thank you for the comment on my Utica EO.

I was just looking at the Case Sodbuster in Chestnut but I like that yellow.

there is something classic about the yella delrin isnt there?
hard to lose at the very least, although i been eyeballing the orange, man i wish that guy came in CV :p
