What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Went with an Old Camillus as the pull falls into the "easier to open" category:thumbup: again, not the best pictures due to being on the jobsite;) But I LOVE the old bone covers:thumbup:

Somewhat gave it some love with a repair to the Pile side that I forgot to take a picture of:o

First thing I saw was the pen blade's shadow which, due to the surface texture of the wood, looks a spiral punch. Made me think you had something quite unique there for a moment. ;) The bone looks great. I love the super thin edges they had on the knives of that vintage as well. Scalpel sharp with minimal effort.

Also, did anyone else notice we're getting quite close to 50,000 posts in this thread?

Love the picture!! And the textbook is fantastic...1917 ...it was probably a high school textbook

I would guess it was college, probably a Georgia Tech student (My Alma Mater). It's pretty specific and in depth for high school, even back then. It wouldn't be of much use to anyone other than Engineer or Architect. I actually used this a little in my time at GT. Newtonian mechanics haven't changed much since the 1700's or so, so a 1917 book is still useful. The drawings and explanations are a little more clear, with a lot less fluff.

There are two names in the front cover, D.B. Blalock (who a quick search shows ran a machinery company) and F.E. deGolian, who was a Naval Officer and Engineer (Georgia Tech). There was also some old homework tucked into the pages I still have at home somewhere. I love old books.

This is my first Case. Got it about a week ago. Been carrying it with me ever since...

Very nice Andi, what day are you on now? ;) :D

Thanks for asking, Jack :D

I´m fine so far and the three knives are still in my rotation. All the others are really begging for use but they will be silent in some time...

The first week is over, soon. So I gonna keep ya updated in a couple of days what has happened so far :foot:

Some really good knives, lately! I took my little ram's horn peanut out of my lounging sweats for around the house use, and replaced it with my butter & molasses Robey.

My only traditional, purchased recently. It's a 2010 Bear & Son large stockman in rosewood. I picked it up as I'm just getting into some woodcarving.

Wonderful old pressed stag Chambers.:thumbup::thumbup:;);):D The texture of the scales reminds me of an old IXL floating around these parts. ;):D

Very unusual to see long pulls on both blades of a Jack Knife.

Thank you, Mr. Primble! I just can't seem to get this one out of my pocket. The durn thing was screaming ...photograph me...try some stump water painting...lol

Thanks for the compliments

These two were with me as my son and I moved and stacked some old firewood in the back 40.

We hauled it down the hill from our garden/wood storage room. A few years ago we converted our two fireplace to natural gas so I'll not be burning this in the house.

My wife hiked down and exclaimed that it looked nice enough in that spot for someone to set up camp.

Gev, That is a Sparrow. Black ash burl with a Damasteel blade. It was a gift from a good friend.
We've got a couple of acres on top of Onondaga Hill, southwest of Syracuse, NY. I won't leave here until they carry me away.
