What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

These two today...

I've never had a Sunfish/Elephant's Toenail to be honest I've always felt they were a little ridiculous, kinda like an overcompensation you're of knife, an exaggerated pattern that was really more of a curiosity than a useful pattern. Now mind you my opinion was surely based on the fact that I'd never held one or used one before.

During the discussion of next year's forum knife possibilities the Sunfish Fans started lobbying right after the Peanut coalition started their bid for the '15 forum knife I made a comment about never having held a Sunfish so I couldn't comment on the pattern and now as a result of that conversation and the generosity of a member here, (Parke1) thanks Dan :) I received a Rough Rider 118 Sunfish in the mail and I've been impressed with both the pattern and Rough Rider.

So here's what traditional is in my pocket today courtesy of a member of our fine community and his generosity.

I'm loving this knife and it reminds me of the old Schrade 51OT, I've reconsidered my stance on the Sunfish/Elephant's Toenail pattern and I can see where it'll gain a place in my back pocket.

Ted your knife needs to go on a diet! It's huge!

Seriously, I have never seen one of those in person and I might just have to try a RR and find out why they even make this pattern. :D

Paul, I think I would walk a little taller if those were in my pocket. Kinda like putting on a good suit.

Thank you Brett, we are so lucky to be part of this fantastic era of GEC knives:) they just turn out hit after hit and make it look so easy like the great companies did and do, yet we can only imagine the immense thought and work that goes into their end product:thumbup:

Enjoy your week Brett and thank you again:thumbup:

My Shadow Beer Scout from Evan hasn't left my pocket since it arrived last week. This is Evan's picture, as I haven't taken any shots with it.

Very unique and good looking knife Mike.:)

This one is staying in the pocket for a few weeks at least. Sorry to all my other knives in advance! :D

I have been digging this knife I modded from an old Camillus TL-29. I rescaled it in bloodwood with some vintage schrade nickel silver pins I got off eBay. Did not turn out bad for a first attempt, and a total investment of less than $15...not counting my time.

Now this one got my attention...I don't know if it's because of the spear point blade (my favorite), or just the fact that it is an outstanding first attempt at recycling, sustaining, and thinking outside of the box; it's really both.

Carried this Case 3247H SS last week while pheasant hunting near Kimball SD. Had a great time hunting over three days - very nice folks living around that area. OH

:love-struck::love-struck::love-struck: Where might one acquire something like that? I have a Crown Lifter, but I've always wanted the sheepsfoot-y blade + lifter combo. Beauuuuuutiful. :love_heart:
