Nice! I've had my eye out for one, but haven't looked hard.

GEC #99 Wall Street is with me. I´m off from work until 7th January and I´m really relaxing - it is needed heavily.

Maybe a little firewood processing in the snow this afternoon :p

Andi, I know what you mean about relaxing-been exhausted these past few weeks and I need to build up strength.

I've been thinking about one of those Wall Sts. myself, I like the Tidioute you show but can't make up my mind. How is it? Is it heavy? How about that square end bolster, is it uncomfortable in the hand? My previous experiences with GEC lockbacks have not been that good, they seem to have plenty of blade-play and generally not as precise as their usual knives. Be interested to hear.

Thanks, Will.

Hi Will!

Thanks for the kind replie!

I have a #72 Lockback as well and it was a mess when I got it. It had massive bladeplay but was a nice knife so far. I repaired it and it is good now - it didn´t grow onto me though. The #99 Wall Street is a very slim knife with a lot of blade (at least on my clip blade version) for the handle shape. The handle shape is surprisingly comfortable in hand, but the square end bolster is a little "squary" in the pocket. But not that it will hurt or anything like that. The construction is bomb proof. No blade play anywhere and the lock is holding tight without rattling or anything else.
Mine is in antique green bone and the jigging is just nice.

I hope it helps a little. ;)

I wonder how many knives Mr. Woolworth sold at his five and dime stores?

That's a great looking Lloyd! I love to see his carbon steel knives. I spent quite a lot of time in Mr. Woolworth's "Five and Dime" during my early years. They were located in just about every town that I can remember during my youth. Wow just think what a collection I would have had if I had been interested in Pocket Knives back then :)

Good luck to both of you. If you get one, be careful because they are a 9/10 on the pull scale and a pocket guillotine from the halfstop

Thanks for the headsup on the pull Landon. Might have to reconsider then. That's quite different from the Case Whaler knife I got which has a very weak pull.

Hi Andi, I received two of the #99's with wharncliffe blades for Christmas and there is nearly no edge on either blade, how was the blade on yours when it arrived?

Sturzi, Winter arrived here as well. Hard and fast. The streets are like mirrors and people are getting crazy... three snow flakes cause a total break down here... LOL!

Mine had no edge as well. But that´s no big deal. I use to put an edge on my like on any of my blades, this means reprofiling every new blade I get. I got several GECs in the past that came actually without any edge.

One of my favorite old John Primbles - a gift which I received a while back from Old & in the Way:

:)

You guys are making me feel cold today - nice Bark River for sure. :D

Primble - that old JP is absolutely amazing. In fact, it hardly looks "old" at all!

I'll have an ebony Talon along for the ride today:

That is a beautiful Primble, Primble! :D

Thank you Mark - I am fond of it.

Thank you SH - it came to me that way. That Talon would pass for a classic old knife, it is nice. Same for the example below that Gevonovich posted.:thumbup::)

Some real beauties today!
