What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today was very easy...

Buck 110

... and the new arrived Swayback Gent in a nice damascus steel blade and bone handles

I really like that great looking SBG very much, though I just carried it for a couple of hours.

I really like that picture!! Still waiting to see the new one?

Thanks pal. The new one arrived this afternoon, but since it's for a friend of ours, rather than myself, I'll let him show it in due course :)

Trand, I think that is about the nicest 48 I've laid eyes on! The shield really looks nice against that sweet, dark wood.:thumbup:

Rodger that, I did not know it was for a friend:D This will be good.

I'm very disappointed to have to report that when I inspected the knife, the blade was so off-centre it was touching the liner, it had side-to-side blade-play, the spring was proud, it had appalling gaps, the pivot was showing, and it had dents in both covers. The only thing right about it was the Arthur Wright tang-stamp. I sent a polite e-mail to the vendor, and received a very curt response instructing me to return it for a refund. I'm about ready to give up on this company, they produce far more duff knives than good ones. There must be generations of Sheffield cutlers turning in their graves :(

That 48 is beautiful! I kept it basic today-

Jack, I too had shared your high hopes for another gem. I am sorry to hear this new knife turned out so poorly, both the knife and the customer service. And I'm sorry the vendor did not express a sense of responsibility. The dealers here in this forum seem to have a much greater pride in what they sell, and a desire for the customer to be satisfied.

I am carrying my first ever TC Barlow: the two blade sheepfoot with saw-cut bone handles. I think GEC called this one antique yellow.

Thank you Scott, I am particularly disappointed as it was intended as a gift. Unfortunately we have very few proper knife dealers here now, just some rather clueless part-timers. Our dealers here on the forum are in a totally different league, genuine enthusiasts to whom customer satisfaction is a priority. Great-looking Barlow my friend

"There must be generations of Sheffield cutlers turning in their graves"...no doubt in my mind!!! Very disappointing news:(
