Tools of the trade

May ask the brand of yours??? It looks really familiar.

Made by J. Nowill & Sons of Sheffield, England.
Very reasonably priced, at around 30 bones (I think) on the big auction site. Definitely a medium- to light-duty blade, though. Holds up fine for me: stripping wire, cutting rope and cardboard, scoring drywall, breaking down boxes, etc.; but I wouldn't use it for bushcraft.

But tomorrow I am going to be totin' this Fremont. My 1st Northwoods :)
I did good to get this photo before I lost the sunlight. The itch has been scratched :D

Jack - terrific pairing of knives today. Who's the young fella in the photo? :)

Smithhammer - beautiful photos and knives.

Whetstone39 - another beautiful photo and pair of knives.

Mark - two wonderful knives (lovely scales on both). Yesterday's Hammer Brand teardrop was outstanding as well!

Erik - I can see why that one would be a favorite. Stunning scales.

ThatDamnSasquatch - striking photos of a lovely knife.

BrotherJim - nice looking Case lock-back.

Andi - nice setup indeed.

Gary - beautiful stag on both of those.

oldmanrunning - nice pickup. I like the slim 66 a lot, and it looks terrific in purple sage.

Perry - I can see why you'd want to keep the Scout in your pocket for a few days.

Nick - two gorgeously scaled knives. The Fight'N Rooster is a very interesting little knife.

No Agenda - good looking swayback.

jrtodd46 - every time I see your Hayn' Helper, I kick myself for not snapping one up when they first came out. It looks like a great work knife.

link2derek - good looking Northwoods.

Primble - Wonderful photo of two of the finest examples of the Swing Guard pattern that I've seen.

jmarston - that one looks like a workhorse.

After exorcising my Charlow blues over the weekend, I decided to pocket an Indian River Jack today.

That's certainly a great one to start with. See how I said start...

Hasn't taken long. Have a fair amount of funding from previous hobby liquidation recently, and #2 showed up today in the mail with #'s 3-5 on their way currently... and we're off!

(Better pics to come, got home as the light was fading, and snapped a few quick ones)

Thank you so much, Stephen and GT! Hey Payton, that TC is just as amazing as I was thinking it would be! WOW:eek:

I don't usually post my day's carry in this thread; not sure why, unless I'm a bit (or a lot) insecure about my photo skills. But I may have figured out something yesterday that seems like it's improved my photos substantially. So I'm posting a Spanish knife I carried today, just so I can see how the photo look online.

Thank you Stephen - I am glad you liked them. They should look nice with your old Case XX collection. ;):)

Beautiful Indian River Jack !!!:thumbup::)

5K Qs - nice looking knife, and your photos look more than fine to me.

Alex, Nick and Tom - thank you very much for the compliments. :)

Primble - you're far too kind my friend, but yes, they'll make fantastic additions to my collection and will be greatly appreciated. :D

Well, she arrived. More coming tomorrow. Well... today (CST). Whatever. :-) Had to share.

This is the swedge pic... No the star is no crooked... pinned like a flag flying with the knife open. The tricky star plays tricks on your eyes at different angles. Like a good paining or piece of art... the art plays with the mind when staring.

The Nowill name is owned by Jack Adams today. They have several models on their site

It's bigger than what I usually carry, although a coat-pocket devours it. Nevertheless, despite the length, it's a sleek carry and not at all heavy, I like the blade assortment too.

Thanks, Will
