What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

With me today. A new pic of a couple of favorites. Jerry Halfrich "Small Rounder" and "Jack Russell" with a Paul Long pocket sheath.

Spent the morning whacking this guy with a hammer to take out some side to side play. It's a lot tighter now, but I managed to keep a great snap in the blades. Quit while you're ahead!

Again, WOW! Great knives everyone.

It's a stag Lloyd for me today.

That stag is amazing! So much value in those Lloyds...

Halfrich Rounder is one of my favorite designs. The geometries and ergos appear to be dead on to me.

I haven't been brave enough to try that yet, but might give it a try as I have a few old wobblers layin around. Nice covers on that one.

I picked it up in a trade and it had some pretty significant side to side wobble. After reading about how to fix it, I put it in a vice this morning to try and be gentle. That helped a bit, but it only bent the liners and scales back in, it left the pivot pin standing proud. It's probably because I was using leather pads to keep form marring the finish in the jaws. I decided to peen it down to tighten it up some more and round it out and it worked swimmingly. There's still a hair of play in the clip, but I don't want to seize the blades up by going any further. Like I said, quit while you're ahead.

Eric, It's tough not to carry the Rounder everyday. Very versatile and it's a real pleasure to carry and use.

Funny how a 2-year-old knife can already be invested with-- and evoke-- so much nostalgia for these good ol' days of knives.

Thanks for showing this one, Sarah; the amber sawcut TCs always stop me in my tracks!:thumbup: I think you have the second-best Charlow in the world :D; only willydigger's 2-blade version of that knife can beat yours (in MY heart)!!

LOL! Thanks! It's the Wenger magnifier with a fine screwdriver tip.
Thanks for learnin' me something, Robert!;)

...Thanks GT, love the wood on that Joker

...Ebony & Ivory for me today ;)

Thanks, Jack; that Joker is bigger than I typically carry (4.5" closed), but it sure is a knife I enjoy in terms of both style and substance! :) Your ebony and ivory are a pretty pair, even if I'm a day late in noting it!!

Today i have my SAK Manager in my coin pocket and this 9cm Laguiole in my L F pocket.

Lovely Laguiole, OMR!:thumbup: Horn handles?

BladeForums Congress Jack in my pocket today. I'd forgotten what a great knife this is.

It sure does look great, Gary!:cool:

Superb snapshot of a splendid slicer!:cool:

Finally changing it up, got my dad's old schrade he gave me a while back. This thing gets SHARP!

That knife looks good on its own merits, but getting it from your dad makes it fabulous!!:thumbup:

...Here's mine for the day. This is the best knife I've ever bought, and I have bought a couple in my day :)

...Mine is an earlier Erickson. It's a small trapper pattern (3.5") with a Zulu style blade. Hand jigged bone and hammered pins. I have a selection of customs, but this one ranks right at the top in every category that you could come up with.

Holy Dolphin Dorsals!!:eek: Joe and Jake, the MOP Chamblin pen and the Erickson trapper are absolutely gorgeous knives!!:thumbup:

Tidioute Moose and 34OT

There's a couple of awesome old school knives you've got there, Woodrow!:cool:

You posted it on Thursday, Gev, but that sure qualifies for Old Friends Friday in my book!;)

My Beer Scout helped cut up some sausage and brisket for lunch today. The sauce really helped add to the patina! I think it is developing nicely.

Josh, your Beer Scout is outstanding; the color and the sawcut pattern of the covers is just perfect, IMHO!!:eek::thumbup:

...I'm carrying this old Thomas Turner penknife today for Old Friends Friday :)

That penknife looks marvelous, Jack!:cool: Does it have a ribbed texture running the entire length of the handle?

Hi friends! It's been a while since I checked in. I've been traveling in Istanbul, Turkey and picked up this neat micarta friction folder hand made in the area. It's not very pretty but is still a great well built work knife and only cost me a song.

Welcome back, Lemmy; thanks for showing your Turkish Delight!! :D:thumbup:

I don't usually comment on this thread on a regular basis, as I can't keep up with all the amazing pictures being shared. I'd be here all day. And I usually just throw a knife in my pocket and hit the day running.

I did take a pic today to post the knife I am carrying. I picked it up recently, and it was missing the shield, so I popped a replacement in, goes pretty well. I originally thought the covers were delrin, as I couldn't see any visible pores, but a closer examination revealed it is indeed bone. The knife has no visible tang stamp, it has worn off, but the main blade has "0304" on the back side of the tang, maybe that's a clue. I'd love to know who made it, but it's not going to keep me up at night. It's a great carry, so I thought I'd share it.

Can't help with identification, Glenn, but congrats on a very handsome old knife!:cool:

Muskrat and a Mountaineer....

Sweet pair, Robert; I always enjoy M & Ms!!:D

As always, I'm carrying a chestnut bone CV Sodbuster Jr and a SS Delrin Peanut:

Very kind of you GT, as always. I was admiring Woodrow's #54 as well but I got side-tracked. Good catch.

That's a beaut, Ken. I love stag with long valleys.

Here's another charmer from Evan...it started life as a GEC #15, but now it's liner-less, ultra light, and has some of the best Micarta layering I've ever seen (someone should make a production version!!!)

Very nice find Glenn

I wouldn't trade my scratted bone Ancient for all the the tea in Harrogate, but that sure is nice

Pure class, as always, Gary

Thanks GT, the texture of the penknife is smooth, but the 'lines' run right through :)

Nice carry my friend, you have deep pockets

I'm off to York first thing in the morning, but will be taking these two with me :)
