What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Just got this in the mail today, nice thin light weight little knife.

Thanks. No serious whittling, but a bit of fooling around with pencils.

You've got a nice selection for the week, yourself. That Wright &Son senator is a beaut.
I have some shoelaces on my desk so I can practice braiding at odd moments, and you "fool around" whittling braided pencils!! I think I'm on the wrong side of a "talent gap" here, Rachel!:o
Thanks for the kind word about my senator from Sheffield. :)

GT - Thank you for the compliment!:) I may have a few dogs around here somewhere! HaHa!:D:eek::D
...
Have a good one everyone! :)

Another dandy duo, Ron; that colored Cadet is cool!:cool: If you have some dogs, I haven't seen them laying around The Porch! :p

This one's been in my pocket since I don't know when...couple weeks now

IMG_8876%20850x522_zpsf3gxkbog.jpg

it just wound up there and made itself all nice and cozy :)
...
Tony and Duane, those are lovely chestnut bone Case knives!:thumbup: Tony, I have a Sodbuster Jr just like yours that I carry EVERY day. Duane, I had an experience apparently very similar to yours, but with a Rough Rider sowbelly. I'd never seen such an odd-shaped knife that came in a set of 12 RRs I bought when I first started learning about traditional pocket knives, but every time I carried the sowbelly, it would stay in my pocket at least twice as long as my rotation indicated it should. Now I look for chestnut bone CV sowbellies at vendors' websites EVERY day! ;) One of these days, I've gotta pull the trigger on one. :o

...Two GT :) I'm not surprised, it was a mere Serpentine Jack when I bought it, they're calling it a Calf Roper now! ;)

That's a really nice one GT, how are you finding the Lambsfoot?
...
...These two for me today, each gifted by a great friend

Thanks for the info about your #66, Jack. :) I'm always drawn to equal-end slipjoints (probably because my first knife was a Colonial scout that was essentially an equal-end pattern); is it unusual to have equal-end knives with a serpentine shape? I think it's a great look!
Thanks for the compliment on my A Wright & Son stag. :) I have to confess that I haven't used the knife much so far; the blade isn't very sharp, and I'm not a good enough freehand sharpener to inflict my "skills" on such a fine knife! :( I either have to make time to practice freehand sharpening until I improve substantially, or make up my mind about a "guided sharpening system" to try.

Your knives today are astounding, Jack! What splendid gifts!

Fantastic old cross Electrician, Captain! I carry an Electrician every day, but with the "modern" insignia.

I decided to swap out my dogleg for this J Milner sleeve board today. I hope everyone has a great day!

Stephen, that's a stunning sleeveboard!

OC Farmer today....

Robert, that knife reminds me of my Dad - both are old Farmers with some miles on 'em! But my Dad is retired now; how about your Farmer?? :D

Amazing "black and white" pair, Dan!:thumbup: What model is that fantastic black jack?

Holy Koala Kits, Erik, that stag is incredible!:thumbup:

I'm toting this 1980 case canoe today.

Another superb canoe from the balor armada!;) How many canoes do you have, sir??

...Here's my latest. You daggone enablers on this forum are gonna put me in the poor house!

Congrats on the Black Box Coffin Jack, Joe! Marvelous photo, and I'm not surprised that I'm seeing it in all kinds of threads this evening; I'd be mighty proud of that pick-up, too!!:D

Superb sowbelly, Peter!

Congrats on the Cadet, Carboniferous! You're gonna love it, I'll bet! :)

A couple of this week's knives I haven't posted yet include an Opinel #8 usefully modified by davek14 and a Rough Rider one-arm trapper:

Well GT I gotta say I'm proud of the spit shine I gave the old Winchester. It certainly wasn't as handsome after a lifetime in a box. But it's a butterbean now, aside from some mighty firm springs...the pen is the hardest pull I've ever owned.

I really like the mods on your Opinel!!

My brother was stationed with SDV Team 1 for four years. He was the armorer for the Team. He worked with the men from 'Lone Survivor".

Right on, good stuff. I did a ride on the USS Georgia with Team 2 a few years back...well the better part of a decade ago.

Great choices this week....that one arm trapper is a real looker!!!!:thumbup:

That old Farmer gets out now and then...maybe more often now that I have another one coming! :D

Thanks! Those are some real nice blades you have too...and a nice 10/22 as well! You're lucky to be able to grouse hunt with a rimfire where you are, here in WI were not allowed. Better luck next time! Whats that fixed blade you have there?

Thanks MM
Yeah. Grouse, Turkey and Ptarmigan are the only ones allowed for upland game birds. Not complaining.
The fixed blade is a Smith and Sons Brave. Have had it for a year and it's still one of my favourite fixed blades.

GT
Dan - Looks like a terrific outing!

Indeed it was Ron. Coming down in the dark was almost the best part…. almost. ;)

Thank you Dan! Wonderful picture as usual, you live in some beautiful country!

Come up and visit the country sometime Erik if you've never been. Lots of room up here! :D

Stunning capture Dan - it really makes me home sick!

Thanks buddy. Where's home Luc? Must be in the mountains...

What type of knife is that fixed blade? Very nice.

Josh - Smith and Sons good sir.

Had a good talk with my buddy John Doyle yesterday. Figured I give the knife he made me some love today. Check out how ridiculously thin this knife is!

Wow. Just a beautiful knife! Must say I'm just in awe at this …:eek::thumb up:

In the pockets today…

Thanks GT, I thought I'd copy you today ;) Not sure why Arthur Wright & Son refer to this pattern as a 'Senator', (though they've turned out 'Barlow's without a long bolster), but it's a nice knife I think. It might be worth practicing on a knife you hold less dear GT, but straight-edge knives are certainly the easiest to sharpen. Hope you get to use it soon my friend :)

We took my parents to dinner last night to celebrate their 50th anniversary, and I thought I'd carry something special. This one fit the bill.
