That is some wild looking stag on that 77. Did you dye it?
Sam - I really like the looks of your Forester. If you don't mind me asking, what are the scales?
Gevonovich - thank you. Lot's of smiles last night and even a few still today. I hope there are plenty of smiles in your weekend as well.![]()
Jeff
Woodrow - seeing your photos of Big Bend happily reminded me of a camping/hiking trip I took there almost 25 years ago. I hope you're enjoying it as much as I did.
Thanks, Joe.Well GT I gotta say I'm proud of the spit shine I gave the old Winchester. It certainly wasn't as handsome after a lifetime in a box. But it's a butterbean now, aside from some mighty firm springs...the pen is the hardest pull I've ever owned.
I really like the mods on your Opinel!!
Thanks, Dan. I should have realized that I guess, since I had just written to Jack about the appealing equal-end serpentine shape of his 66.Gary, that's a tidioute 66 in ebony. Great little knivesď
Thanks, Robert.Great choices this week....that one arm trapper is a real looker!!!!:thumbup:
That old Farmer gets out now and then...maybe more often now that I have another one coming!![]()
Your "senator" and 2014 Forum knife look like a matched pair, Jack!:thumbup:Thanks GT, I thought I'd copy you todayNot sure why Arthur Wright & Son refer to this pattern as a 'Senator', (though they've turned out 'Barlow's without a long bolster), but it's a nice knife I think. It might be worth practicing on a knife you hold less dear GT, but straight-edge knives are certainly the easiest to sharpen. Hope you get to use it soon my friend

You can say that again, Lemmy; very pretty pair!
A wharncliffe lockback whittler that Joel Chamblin built for me, is in my pocket on this cold and snowy day,
CTS XHP, stag and 14k gold pins

Kris and Gary, those stag Chamblins are very different, but both astonishing!!...Here's a little 3 3/8" SBJ from Joel Chamblin I don't carry as often as I should. A fine little knife, Amber stag and CPM-154.

Great photos, Bob; that Beer Scout of yours is my favorite example of the model!:thumbup: (I have PILES of oak leaves if you need them for future photo projects; you're welcome to come pick them up, no charge!
Holy Mammoth Molars, John, that is one stunning knife!!Just keeps on getting in my pocket. Have a great weekend.

Whoa!! That Case looks especially incredible to me!They both got a dye bath today. The stag on the case needed some help as did the NF. Both much better now.
What a beautiful 38, pwnc!!
Dynamic duo today, Mark!
Thanks for the super pics, Woodrow, including that delicious-looking meal. Wrong national park, but your knives are a couple of Old Faithfuls!:thumbup:
Good to see you able to spend some time on The Porch again, Stephen! :thumbup:Jeff - thanks for the compliment.
Kris - your Chamblin lock back whittler is simply amazing.
Jack - thank you.The weather here has been odd. We're expecting rain for the rest of the weekend, but it's been hot (highs have been in the 80°'s) and humid these past few days. Hopefully, we're in for some cooler weather soon.
Bob - beautiful photos of an equally beautiful Beer Scout Knife.
John - stunning handles on your Charlow. As nice as I've seen.
Gevonovich - thank you. Lot's of smiles last night and even a few still today. I hope there are plenty of smiles in your weekend as well.
Gary - very handsome SBJ.
PWNC - outstanding stag on your whittler. Very nice.
Mark - terrific photo and a couple fine knives as well. I especially like the teardrop.
Sam - I really like the looks of your Forester. If you don't mind me asking, what are the scales?
Woodrow - seeing your photos of Big Bend happily reminded me of a camping/hiking trip I took there almost 25 years ago. I hope you're enjoying it as much as I did.
Thanks, Joe.davek14 told me he wanted the "blade height" of a #8 in a short, pocket-friendly length, and I think he really succeeded by shortening and sheep footing the blade and cutting down the handle, so closed length is now right at 3 5/8" - about perfect IMHO. And the little stainless shim he pinned into the end of the blade slot to reinforce the handle is really impressive!
Thanks, Dan. I should have realized that I guess, since I had just written to Jack about the appealing equal-end serpentine shape of his 66.
Thanks, Robert.Congrats on another old cross Farmer coming in!:thumbup: Are you trying to "corner the market"??
I went to a gun&knife show today, and there were a LOT of fine used SAKs to be had for what seemed to me to be good prices (no deals on Alox, though). I saw more desirable knives today than I ever had in the half-dozen shows I've been to; I wish I had brought a lot more cash!
I picked up an older Explorer (I think, no parcel hook anyway) in really great shape, and found a Case stag Peanut for a price I couldn't refuse. I walked out with 2 dimes, 2 nickels, and 5 pennies as my only cash!
