What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That's a beauty Robert.

Thanks! I cant wait to get back to the US and hit the estate sales looking for old used gems like this. I paid $8 for it in quite an unusable state sight unseen and did quite a good job restoring without destroying the patina, the main blade doesn't snap very hard if at all but it does have half stops and I had to re-peen it (main blade wobbled) which was difficult to do without ruining the old finish.

I love the old classic slip joints and this is really nice. What's the scales material ?
Mike

Thats still being debated, I tend to agree with some that its a celluloid but others think its bone...under the loupe its really indistinguishable, it could be either but I like old celluloid scales so that works either way for me.

nice shot. you don't need much more than a knife, a watch and a morgan dollar

I agree! I've carried that morgan dollar for a good 7 years now...my fav US issued coin by far (even though a lot of people hated it).

No rain today...(or so it seems)...so the new Pena stockman will take another turn:

Gorgeous knife E! he does fantastic work with that jigging...very nice piece.

Gratuitous pron of my favorite little tank. This guy has taken all comers and comes out standing tall every time. There'll be a #56 ebony spear point in my mailbox soon though. We'll see how well that works out for him.:p

I added my Opinel #8 to the mix today - went fishing! Three hold over trout and a couple planters.

I put this one in my pocket today. I really like the convex edge on it and with the 1095 carbon steel blade I'm hoping to start a patina.

Wow I love that knife, it really amazes me how all the blades come together in such a small space! its what I really like about multiblade slipjoints.

Thanks, Robert. It's a very special knife for a variety of reasons.

Elliot, I'm sure that's not an easy one to carry? (For those same reasons)
But it sure is a lovely piece of work! Ken really KO'd that one!
It would be hard to EDC it for sure! But then again it would be fun as well.:D

Jason, you are correct on all counts. What makes it (somewhat) easier is the knowledge that I'd never sell or trade it. So it's not a matter of losing value...Simply a matter of putting a blemish on "perfection".
(Of course we realize it's not perfect but I know you totally understand.)

Thanks for the good words, my friend.

hey Elliott, that's the king of stockmen, beautiful piece, must be a joy to carry and use

changed my mind :-D ,no stockman for the afternoon, queen canoe today instead
