What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today it is my new Case Seahorse. Interesting knife with a very strong Wharncliffe main blade. While it is over 4" it fits in the pocket very well!

A post in another thread prompted me to pull out this fella. I almost forgot what a fantastic, versatile EDC this one is. One of Ellenville's best. The venerable 8OT.

For a knife thats like 80 or so years old, it takes one blood thirsty edge and carries awesome in my t-shirt pocket because its so thin...love the small Remington congress from the 20's to 40's more than other styles of the period.

I love the old classic slip joints and this is really nice. What's the scales material ?

nice shot. you don't need much more than a knife, a watch and a morgan dollar

Today it's a Henkle's single blade barlow with sambar stag handles and a Boker serpentine jack with black jigged bone.

No rain today...(or so it seems)...so the new Pena stockman will take another turn:

Elliott,

You have mentioned a couple times that your knife choice is related to rain? Would you mind explaining that?

Thanks,

David, it started out a bit tongue in cheek but as we get some really good gullywashers around here I tend to take a "beater" knife with me when I expect severely inclement weather. Lately that's been my Buck 301. It can handle most anything I need it to, (for a pocket knife), and I don't have to worry about hurting it. (And I have a spare, anyway.)

I tend to not want to abuse my "better" knives...not that they can't handle it. I'm just a wuss and treat them nicely. (Of course in an emergency all bets are off.)

Anyway, that's pretty much the way it works.

Just got home from a short hike, and lunch with my daughter beside this creek.
Brutus here was in the mailbox a couple of days ago, so it's keeping company with my ever present primitive bone barlow. :)

This one makes for a good jeans knife for Fridays at work. It is very light and cuts like no tomorrow. (Whatever that means.) :)
