This thread is turning into a high-intensity beauty contest!! Here are knives in some recent posts that the eye of this beholder saw as remarkable beauties!:thumbup:

Miss Kentucky is a real looker!

A continental beauty? Unique and interesting!

Still honeymoonin'

Sean, it's fun to see your developing relationship with your beauty queen! ;) Hope the honeymoon never ends!

...Carrying these two today

Beauty isn't limited to the young! Even "ancient" knives and old scouts can be gorgeous! What is that brilliant curvy beautifully-grained object that your Ancient Barlow is resting on, Jack??

...today, I've got george and his little buddy :)

:
Dazzling dark duo, Rachel!

...A pair of Keen Kutters ridin' in my britches today:
...
245g7wz.jpg
A kouple of incredibly keen Keen Kutter kontestants from KY!! Both beauties, but MY taste always runs toward the 2-blade models!

New Northwoods Gunstock, it is supposed to be a factory second but I can't find a single flaw. No gaps or cracks, tight spring maybe a 6 or 7 pull, good walk and talk, sharp clean edge. Not sure what is "wrong" with it but I like it :).

Congrats on the new gunstock, Tom; sounds like you're very happy with it! Perfect picture of a pretty pair!

...Down is a map to help locating some knives (not comprehensive). They are now quite all made in Thiers and around (well, those not originating from Far East) but Langres / Nogent was a big contender not so long ago, famous for the stainless steel. (Let me know if this is inappropriate in this thread).
couteaux-regions-ausabot.jpg
Very cool map, JP! I hope I can use it over the holidays to help me research some French beauties!

...I'm carrying this pair today.

Both beauties, Dean! I'm not always great on colors, but aren't they kind of a seasonal reddish and greenish? ;)

I've carried this one for the past couple of days.

I think that's a beauty, Ken! Some might say an OldTimer is just a "plain jane", but the round bolsters and the slender clip make that one gorgeous to me! What model is it?

Just arrived today from France a D'Albrac Le Liadou in spicy juniper wood. I've been watching the Youtube videos of Stephan and this knife really caught my eye and my first into the French regional knives.

dalbrac.jpg
Another French beauty; ooo la la!! Congrats, sshakari!

...Totin' old school today!! :) I get the biggest kick out of all them young whippersnappers at work when I pull something like this out of my pocket at the lunch table!
The 1st thing one of them said today was, "What in the he-double-hockey-sticks kind of knife is that? And then the old man proceeded to take them to school on what I like to
call "Classical Cutlery
" :eek::D:eek::D

23617116075_526224b01e_b.jpg
Another example of old but glamorous! Teaching is a rewarding profession, isn't it, Ron?? :p

Just when I think I'm starting to get a grip on my traditional purchases yoh have to go and post something like this...:grumpy:
Seriously though, that is some really cool information. Traditional European patterns have really intrigued me lately.
+5K!! Totally agree, Erik!

Yet ANOTHER elegant, classic, stunning French beauty!

Beauty appears in many colors, even blue (especially blue?)!!

...Carrying my Davison today :)

The knife is undeniably pulsating with pulchritude, but the background is rather creepy IMHO!! :D:thumbup:

Some of my carries this week may not be pretty, but they all have great personalities!!

Thanks GT! :D My girlfriend had to go to Estonia with her work the other week, brought me back a few presents, including a wooden butter knife. It's made from 3 layers of wood, juniper I think, the spiral design is apparently very traditional to Estonia.

@5K Qs : There is a traditional cutlery in most towns, where you find the local(s) knives. Thiers is where the heart beats and many maker's shop to drool! I can give you some addresses depending where you wannago.

Especially the right blue.

I'd say so GT, those all look like great options for the week ahead. I'm partial to doglegs myself, very nice Winchester and navaja~

At last! And you're welcome.
I think it's in a spirit similar to the fishtail.

Thanks for the comment GT. It's a Schrade 980T.

Great pics all.

To get into the Christmas spirit with some Christmas colour, I'm carrying these two today.

I haven't been around much lately. I started to shown early signs of knife burnout, and took a brief hiatus from the forum to get my head back. During that time, I got into a horrible rut, pocketing the same traditional, day in and day out. I knew I had to do something to break the chain, so I manned up and bought a new knife. So today I carry my new Case Burnt Amber Bone Backpocket in 154CM. I'm really stoked about having a new traditional with a higher end stainless steel. The initial shade of the bone was a bit too light and oatmeal colored for my liking, so the knife spent a couple of hours last night soaking in some English breakfast tea. I like it more now, but may still want to go a bit darker.

Absolutely, no nonsense worknife but good looking as well. I think the parcel spent some time in the customs office as it has been opened (no damage, no fee). Usually they are much less suspicious but these times they are very cautious and somewhere I prefer that.
The most important is that the knife is at home now! :D
194OT-2.jpg

The forum knife is in the same situation I suppose as USPS said the parcel had cleard customs yesterday morning.

The #22 Magnum has taken over from the Peanut in my coin pocket and the #57 Whittler rides along as backup, i had thought to do a comparison between these two and a Peanut with a Seahorse, but i do not have a Seahorse , intended to get one as i heard good things about them, i should be interested to hear any thoughts from the porch or beyond.

 And this is for good reasons, the main blade is really impressive and the knife is a dreadnought!
