Nice MasterCraft! Bill

Thanks, and I was supposed to buy one, but unfortunately a friend of the family passed. His family didn't have much, so I ended up donating the money to a fund my dad had put together. Thankfully the person I was supposed to buy from is a good friend (one I know in the real world) and he understood.
I will get my hands on one eventually, though. So far I either see em and don't have the cash, or I have the cash and am to impatient and spend it on something else.

I havent had time in the day to snap adequate pictures lately.
But, today I have been rotating between the 77 and forum knife.

Sorry to hear about the family friend Erik. My condolences.

Good luck with Christmas shopping today! Days like that feel like a battle. Perhaps a two knife carry is required!;)

Dan - I love your Bull Nose photos! But you can keep that white stuff up north. :D

No. 7 today

Lonnggg day today, had my 2015 forum knife in my pocket :)

Thanks for the follow-up, Jack; from what I can see in the photos, you've found a couple of idyllic locales!
And thanks for the compliment on my knives and pocket prioritization prowess. :D I've found I can carry more knives if I keep them organized. I now carry TWO wallets, one normal and one for knives, a diamond hone, and whatnot. In the pics, I have 3 knives in the wallet, but this week, I have 4 in it, including a sizable sunfish.

Thanks my friend. I'm lucky, plenty of great countryside close to where I live. Nice to see your set-up :)

WAIT JUST A MINUTE! You can't simply make an offhand remark about your responsibility for a change in name of a SAK model, and let it go at that!! Many of us want, and deserve , to hear the rest of the story! Of course, knives like those you're carrying can cover a multitude of sins around here! I like that "sun is over the yardarm" idiom, although I fear I'd be tempted somedays to shorten all my masts! ;)

Hmmm..The sun is WAY over the yardarm here right now, but I'll try to muster up a few details. Long, long ago, I used to write about knives for the UK magazines which published that kind of stuff. If a knife article was published here, there was a very high chance I wrote it. In the early 1990's, there was a UK company, who distributed the knives of Victorinox, Opinel, Normark, EKA, and a few others, together with lots of other outdoor kit, which I also wrote about. I reviewed the Victorinox Golfer in about 1992, and while I thought it had a great range of tools in a "compact" package, I suggested they change its name. I think my article used the word "compact" 4 or 5 times, and a quote using it was highlighted. Shortly after, Victorinox changed the name of that model from the 'Golfer' to the 'Compact'. Now, I can't say for definite that my article was influential in the change, but I know that Victorinox were sent a copy of my piece by their UK distributor, and that they certainly took notice of what I had to say in at least 2 other articles, suggesting that the gutting blade on the Victorinox Hunter could be the basis for the blade of an emergency release knife for instance. I've never actually got round to asking them, but if nothing more, my suggestions in relation to the Victorinox Golfer are a heck of a coincidence ;)

Fantastic Primble, hope you're feeling better already

Wonderful, Kris! I love them all!

Growing up I loved winter because that meant hockey season :) Now I much prefer the warmer California climate.

Nice Opinel - I actually bought a handful of #8 and handed them off as Xmas gift to a few select friends. Surprisingly I had to touch up and/or sharpen almost all of them. They came with an horrible edge! I was surprised because my older Opinels (that I bought a few years ago) came razor sharp.

The worst thing than not gifting a knife is gifting a dull knife ;)

I am feeling much better Jack and thank you sir. I can't quite get used to that BIG nickel for size reference. :D That pendant is so beautiful ! Ohh - the knife has fine character too. ;):D

These 92s are hard to keep out of the pocket I guess.

It's definitely winter here today! It was in the low 20's but the river was still flowing so I spent the afternoon fishing in God's creation with my 92 in my pocket. This knife continues to hold my attention: it's both plain (functional) with just enough extra curves to be different.

Wow, Robb, you really know how to dress up a knife! How do you get that edge so polished?

I carried this sawcut today.

I like to put a polished edge on carbon steel. I've found that it helps prevent deterioration to the cutting edge when cutting food or other acidic material. The rest of the blade might patina, but the edge takes a much longer time to be affected. So I sharpen all the way up to 3000 or 4000 grit mylar tape. Then, I can touch up with a Sharpmaker or put a coarser micro-bevel on if I want to cut something like fibrous material or tomatoes. You can see the micro-bevel as the thinnest line running right along the edge.

Hey, I have the twin of your Day's Work Barlow!
