What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

blIBNuM.jpg

That's really a great knife, especially in ebony. I love the closed profile and wraparound spring. I wish they had made the spear a little fatter though.

Ron is that a #79? I really dig the ivory, great pic

Stuck in the office today so only a Beer Scout, you can sort of see the patina starting to form where I pinch it open.

Tom - Yes Sir, it is a 79 Workhorse in Smooth Ivory Bone :) If I gave it the pocket time it deserves it would probably darken like your Beer Scout! :D

As an update to What I Am Totin Today, some added photos of my duo for the day! :D

It's a dreary, rainy day here in Upstate Ny. So I took my Case 63032 to the gun shop and bought some ammo, and when I got home, a package containing this lovely vintage Challenge cattle knife was waiting in the mailbox.

I'm still carrying the Mutz canoe today, but after I clean it up and touch up the edge its going back into hibernation. It's really a great knife but the rotten banana bone jack is calling for attention.

I really like that pattern. Nice knife.

What I had in my pocket was my New Day TC.

Solid choice and substitute. I really like that green.

Been too long since I've been out with the Boy's ;)

Such a great knife. Have fun with the Boy's today! ;)

Totin' the Trestle Pine Superior in yellow birch today.

Its a great pic and knife.

I hope nobody minds another photo of my Presidential. It just won't stay out of my pocket!

I am being sold more and more daily, seeing how much love is given to these Northwoods Presidential knives.

I'm toting my new-to-me Case/Bose Coffin Jack on this sunny Seattle day.

I can't stop coon fingering this knife. I may need an intervention of some sort.:confused::D

Congrats and I saw you acquire that knife in the for sale thread. It looks so nice and well made. Fondle away Dadpool, good part is, it won't talk back, complain, ask for anything, critique you, want more, or not love it, so carry on, sir. :D

Carrying a canoe today too Ed.

Growing up I loved winter because that meant hockey season :) Now I much prefer the warmer California climate.

Nice Opinel - I actually bought a handful of #8 and handed them off as Xmas gift to a few select friends. Surprisingly I had to touch up and/or sharpen almost all of them. They came with an horrible edge! I was surprised because my older Opinels (that I bought a few years ago) came razor sharp.

The worst thing than not gifting a knife is gifting a dull knife ;)

California would do that I guess.:D

Hahahaha. Same here. I can't gift a dull knife.

^Very interesting knife, Ed! The shape reminds me of a traditional Chinese folder... might just be the angle though.:cool: Details?

I'm toting a Northwoods Presidential in mammoth today.

Some really good looking Mammoth covers on that Presidential Brett. Gorgeous!

Totin' the Trestle Pine Superior in yellow birch today. *I am reducing my digital footprint by recycling a picture for today's post* ;) :D

Great looking knife and picture Erik.
Way to keep save the digital rain forest by re-using those photos. Right on! ;)

Day off today with the wife so we hiked to some natural hot springs.

...Thanks Gary, it's been a long 2 1/2 months but was worth the effort, looking forward to some normalcy and time back on the forums:thumbup:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone;)
Congrats on your endurance, Paul, and we all look forward to seeing you on The Porch a little more often, if possible!

That was back in the days when I didn't have to pay for my pocket cutlery GT! ;) :D

Back with my beloved Ancient today :)

But when you didn't have to pay for your cutlery, did it accumulate on your kitchen table, Jack? Hate to miss the "table inventory" threads! :D
Fine photo of your Ancient; people whose opinions I respect have suggested that's The Knife of 2015! ;)

...
Gary - Thank you my friend :) I always enjoy seeing that Case Chestnut Jigged Bone:thumbup:
...
Thanks, Ron. :)

Admirable!

Well yeah it is the land of the Midnight Sun but also Daytime Dark...and let me tell you this year is so grim because there is no snow (maybe in Lapland..) at all but rain. ...
Due to the relentless dark I took the Groove Train today....:D:D

Thanks, Will
Breathtaking!

It's been a long time since I carried this one. It doesn't look as new and pristine as it does in this photo, but I'm too worthless to get out in the weather to take a new picture.

Compelling!

I have carried this 25 since it arrived. The bocote on this knife is amazing. I turned a replacement handle for a screwdriver in bocote (prior to ordering this knife). I think they go well together.

A scout knife (for girls):

Speaking of girls, and Spain, I've got to head for the airport to pick up our daughter, who'll be home from Spain for Christmas! (Maybe she'll even bring me a large or small knife, if I've been good.)

Single blade bare-head canoe pattern by Jeff Mutz.

Thanks, Ed! I've never seen a barehead Canoe before... I like it!

Today, I'm back to my usual carry: a silver alox Victorinox Pioneer.

I absolutely love the case/ Bose coffin jacks, and ebony looks the best out of all the handles.
That is one of my grails for sure!

Rosewoods today:

As always, that rosewood eureka is simply stunning.

I am being sold more and more daily, seeing how much love is given to these Northwoods Presidential knives.

I admired these for months before finally taking the plunge. Well made and handy knife.

Rosewoods today:

Beautiful, Rob, just beautiful...

Thanks for you knife comments today, GT. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family.
