New here, but really enjoying The Porch. I've quickly fallen down the rabbit hole. My second GEC, and two more are in the mail. My days are organized around getting to the mailbox before my wife does....

Welcome! And, great choice of a knife (I have one, too).

Great looking 65 deskil, I have one on the way and I have recently had a growing appreciation for GEC acrylics.

Thanks for noticing. You're gonna love your new 65. It's a great back pocket carry, for me. I have an older one in natural stag that I carry just for special occasions.
I have only five GEC acrylics - three are Red River (81, 66 slim, 65) one Sunbrite (77) and one Coffee House (85) - they're the ones I find most appealing. The majority of their acrylics don't quite harness the mules, in my opinion, but they are a fertile field, just waiting to be plowed, for others.

Well, I'm still buried under a mountain of work. Here are the photos I've taken as I continue to fall further and further behind the thread and all your wonderful knives. I will endeavour to catch up on commentary as the week goes on, and of course pick a winner for the EDC challenge GAW, but between making arrangements for my mother's birthday and all the after-hours work stuff this week I haven't had much time to just sit and read, so I look forward to some quiet time hopefully soon.
…Stag Saturday:

...
I'm tired just recapping the weekend! :o Looking forward to ogling all the wonderful knives everybody posted. :D
I hope you dig your way out soon, TB! ;) Love that shot of your stag knives, but a novice like me would appreciate some ID!

Just like the Western Star I'm Sinking:eek:

Burlington In My Bolster

What an interesting photo, Gev, and what cryptic comments! (At least, to an unimaginative guy like me, they’re quite cryptic. ) I don’t even know what railroad companies are operative anymore, but is Burlington one, and is your comment actually literal, rather than cryptic?? If so. how did you stage that shot???:confused:

…
Thanks GT, interesting to read your thoughts on the Landshark  I like straight-edged blades, and find them good for a variety of cutting tasks, but in the kitchen, I prefer a curved blade. Nice pics of your Kutmaster, shame about the springs :(
…
Carrying a couple of old Sheffields today

Thanks for the photo comments, Jack. :) I bought that Kutmaster in a cavernous (in terms of size and lighting) junk store, and knew when I bought it that the blades just fell open. But I thought maybe the back springs were just “stuck” and some cleaning and lubrication would bring back some snap ; it was too dark in the building to see the cracks in the back springs. Live and learn.
Couple of grand old knives you grabbed. Are they photographed using funky filters?

Found this nicely restored beer bottle crate over the weekend at an antique mall. Krueger Brewing Company was the first brewery to produce and ship beer in cans. The crate will be home to my GEC tubes and other knife packages.

This sucker is hanging with me on this frigid morning! Maybe I'll get a patina going for lunch :D

Cool crate, Jake! And both Jake and Kitten Party have knock-out teardrops IMHO!!

Did not have time yesterday to post the 2 Little Guys that I had to carry yesterday while we were doing the dress up thingy.
Small Case Stockman in Stag and the new little Northfield 18 in Sangria

…
And todays carry I get back to normal . My a 73 and a 77

Quality quartet, Harry!

Red Alert!! Fantastic knives in the weeds! ;)

An old favourite today.
That’s a pretty irresistible knife, Paul!

…
Haha thankfully the tissue has started healing up fine and the tooth doesn't ache nearly as bad anymore.
Some beautiful shots GT. It actually snowed last night.

A full patina is coming along nicely.

Looking great, Tim! Thanks for the kind words about my pics, and I’m glad to hear that the tooth pain is subsiding. :)

I joined the pack!

Congrats, Jeff! What is that handle material called?

Might be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm going to need a whole pot of coffee next time I sit down with this thread in earnest, but I will get caught up. :D

I know these knives have seen a lot of pocket time lately -- the 'yote is a confirmed triumph in both form and function -- but they complement each other so well it's hard to get away from them.

Having seen what was in the mail today I can promise you at least one of these knives will not be present tomorrow.
I appreciate your “can-do attitude” about catching up with commentary on this thread after falling several days behind. When I get more than a day or two behind, I limit myself to one comment per page or I just give up and do a “reset”. :( But if you CAN get caught up, that will be impressive, and, apologies to Kipling, you’re a better man than I am, Bomba Din!
Nice trio; the Barlow is especially enticing to me! And what’s up with this suspense-building closing sentence?? Whadja get? Whadja get? ;)

…
Slipping this Copperhead in my pocket today

You carry that Boker often lately, Jack; looks good! What are some of its charms for you?

Goodness, that’s a sublime pen knife, Ernie! Will you please provide some details?

…My Primble and City Knife in tow today.

Nice pair, Tom, as usual!

...
I've been fighting the flu since Tuesday last and still feel pretty crappy.

Anyway, I carried these two today. A Vic Pioneer Pruner and a Case Barlow.

Sorry to hear that the flu still has you down, Ken. :( Based on the pic, your color is good! :D Those knives make a cute couple!

I am carrying this new Northfield White Owl in cocobolo. Love it!

Congrats on the White Owl, Jeff; it's a beautiful bird!

Welcome, Dschal! Honesty is the best policy! ;)

The thread title asks a question that I'll answer, except these are knives I'll carry M-F.

It's a great one. I have my eye on some other 77s, but I have to pace myself. I've got a 54 Moose and a 15 Boy's knife incoming, and a bunch of Rough Riders to boot. But when the time comes, I'll be looking at a 77 with nice stag no doubt.
Beautiful picture!

Welcome, Dschal! Nice first post. I, too, share your enthusiasm for that particular 77.

Tom- Many thanks. The fixed blade/ slip joint combo is my favourite ... Just like someone I might know ...:p:thumbup:

GT- I've had to apply wax twice so far the last two weeks. Wood keeps on soaking it up. :D
Yes. It's a Swayback Jack. What a great knife. I really like your Case Cv Jigged bone trio you have there. Makes me want a Case sodbuster junior too!

Just finished my first slip joint knife tonight.

Looking awesome buddy!

Been the No 7 the last couple of days...
Seem some fishing and gardening work. It's been a busy week for it.

Yes it is cryptic as usual, GT:D BNSF started as a holding company and soon will own it all from Canada through the US. All controlled by a nice ice cream licking old man;) I'll let you do the math, my friend;):D As per the shot... a bridge had been washed out and the road was shut down. The trains always stop along this section of track but the road traffic is usually to heavy for me to stop.

Another massively late evening. Beginning to wonder why I'm even taking these photos... :o Hopefully tomorrow is a normal enough day to pull the GAW winning post out of the hat. For now, I'm missing my slow evenings with this thread.

Today's Tempestuous Tuesday trio helped power me through the long, long afternoon...

The brown camel bone 'yote left the tube seconds after the tube left the package, and the blade took a patina seconds after slicing into that apple. As elegant as the osage is, this one might be the ultimate worry stone and pocket surgery pal. :p :D

(The stag #18 is coming soon, right? This could become a problematic addiction...)

It happens to us all my friend. Thanks for the comments on my Harrison-Fisher and IXL there, I edited them in Photobucket. Here they are au naturel :)

Fantastic that you still have your Colonial

In the Yosemite valley this morning-

Superb pic
