What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Happy birthday, Primble! Some nice looking knives today.

Tom S Very nice of you to say so, Osage is a rather satisfying choice as it is very robust but it changes colour.

Primble I send you warm birthday greetings  but I suspect that at 62 you, a) can't really feel old, b) therefore not actually telling the whole truth about your years...with that outstanding collection of knives you've put together you must surely be on a par with Methusela...:D:D:D:eek::thumbup:

Thanks, Will

Welcome to 62, Rob! I hit that milestone last month. Pretty knives to carry for your birthday...

I can't decide which one I like best.

I've been carrying an ancient one for several days now.

About cut my finger off yesterday, gruesome, so I am closing the shop for a few hours to rest. Still got quite a few cars done, diagnostics on a new MB diesel, and a SVT Raptor and quite a few oil changes. This Menefee trapper is keeping me company on the couch,

Thanks GT! The double SAK day was fun, and an unusually heavy cutting day for me as I was helping an uncle with a home project. I think I was a good ambassador as he bought himself a Super Tinker on Saturday :). LOVE the ALOX show GT!

A sort of matching pair for me today.

An elegant matching pair, Tom! How much commission do you figure you'll get from Victorinox for inducing your uncle to buy a Super Tinker? ;) I enjoy the Alox knives; in fact, I'm thinking of blowing my knife budget for about 5 months on 3 different colors of Vic Farmers as soon as I get my taxes finished!

Nice cattle knife GT, and thanks for your comments this weekend.

For the 3rd day of Sowbelllies, the Northwoods hopped into the pocket today.

...
Thanks GT, great-looking Cattle Knife
...
Thanks, Mike and Jack. :) That cattle knife is part of a massive shipment of knives Markesharp sent me almost a year ago; quite sure it's a Kingston from 1947. Another exquisite sowbelly you've posted, Mike!

...
My carry today...can't stop grinning...

Still an enthralling knife, Mitch! (I understood your previous picture with the arrowhead that matches your new knife's shield, but I have to confess I can't figure out WHAT that is above the knife in this pic!)

These two today. Tidioute and John Lloyd.

Another black and "orange-ish" combo for you today; that toothpick is electrifying!

My normal 73 and 77 plus a Grand Daddy
...

Harry
Congrats on your recently-acquired Granddaddy, Harry; enchanting knife!

My "new" Henckels is getting some carry time today!
Esteemed old Henckels, Ernie!

Had not carried this ole Catt for a while, so I am:

Enjoyable Catt, Primble!

...
Thanks for the comment on the SAK's GT. You have 4 beauties yourself.
...
Today I went with a Case 6208 and a Vic Popular. The blade on the Popular is stamped ELINOX, which give me a timeframe for its manufacture, but the alox scales don't have a cross on them. I tried to look that up but couldn't find any info on it.

Have a good one everyone!

Ken K.
Thanks, Ken. :) Another engrossing pair from you, especially that rare Popular!

Glad you didn't loose that Digitus Secundus Manus. I've severed myself many times and it has never been fun. At least you have good company.

Thanks Gary, those are willows. I am not sure what kind, but they are darn near impassable in summer. The moose love to hang out in them, as it offers great protection from being seen.

Spending a nice evening with my ladies, these two fine knives are with me,

Jerry Halfrich front lock Hidalgo in Mike Norris "Hornet's Nest" stainless damascus and a Jack Russell fixed blade, in M4 tool steel, hardened by Jerry to 62 RC, both in highly chatoyant, old growth redwood burl. Sheath by Paul Long

Those red barked bushes are often called "Red Willow", but are actually Osier Dogwood, or Redosier Dogwood. Moose seem to prefer them to pretty much everything else (to eat). I used to hunt moose on an island in the Skeena River in BC where the moose had mowed the Osier Dogwood down to an absolutely uniform height. We called it the "moose motel". It was a VERY good bet for a bull on the morning after the first big snow in the mountains.

Went to work today and my boss who is also a good friend of mine said he wanted to thank me for the last few years of hard work. He reached into his bag and handed me a little cardboard tube which contained this 73 scout. He is a man of few words and it meant a great deal to me. It immediately went into my pocket.

Thanks for contributing to my botanical education, Kris and Mr. Chips! :) I really enjoy all that I learn about knives here, and I’m thrilled to see examples of knives I’d never otherwise knew existed (like your extraordinary burl examples, Kris ). But I’m also very impressed by the wide range of information about all sorts of other subjects that I can pick up here!
And Kris, I hope your finger heals quickly and completely; that looks like it was a nasty accident!

I love the recruit GT, probably one of my favourite SAK configurations possible.
…Blade/Liner Delete, satin bolsters, and lightened of the dark chestnut into an antique amber sawcut done by a wonderful modder.

Thanks for the Recruit comment, Tim. :) Congrats on the enticing mod you had done!

…I had a pocket full today. :) Cell phone photos and all.:D

…
Carrying these two today (need to get some more pics of my Coyote!) :)

Exemplary pairs, Ron and Jack!

The cat has developed a dangerous but amusing obsession with my knives:eek::cool: She likes to knock them down from tables and carry them off in her mouth dog-style:confused:

She knocked this one off into the wood basket then tried to retrieve it even though it was open aarrghh!

The Osage Orange is mellowing nicely despite feline vandalism...
…
Cats! Can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em… Wait a minute, I’ve been without cats for several years now, and I’m living quite happily! :D Thanks for sharing your cat’s obsession with Osage Orange and others! :p

Recent addition Case Sowbelly.
