What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

jrawk, that's too awesome! I loved going to Air Shows as a kid, and being in the New Orleans area, we have a JRB that's home to "The Bayou Militia" with some very active F15s. Nothing cooler than fighter jets!

jsega51, I hope your mail comes early! I'm intrigued.

I'm putting together more baby stuff with the help of my Washington Jack and Peanut. Trying to get all errands/chores done before The 24 Hours of Le Mans starts tomorrow!

A beautiful example of the pattern Gev:)

Really glad I was able to catch one of these:) enjoying watching the denim get dirty and the blade find its colours:)

Sam

Wow Sam, the number of high quality production's and custom knives you've been pulling out lately is really impressive. You're on quite the winning streak! :D

Thanks my friend:) Actually this one is the first knife I've bought in quite a while... I've laid low then re-cycled some old stock:D

Sam

Gev, that stag is immaculate! Very nice Powderhorn: thumbup:

Carrying this one the last few days

Always liked the look of that FB, Jeff! Thank for the compliment on my carry. I am not that familiar with the Powerhorn but this one is a Fight'n Rooster. Hope your doing well!!

Today it's a TC Barlow and a Vic Pioneer.

Ken K.
Auspicious duo, as usual, Ken! And, as usual, I have to specifically acknowledge the allure of the old cross Pioneer!

I think I've seen that legendary performance GT! :D THe version I listen to most often is Nina Simone's :)

That is brilliant! :)
Thanks, Jack. And thanks for the Nina Simone recommendation! No thanks, however, for inspiring me to spend far too much time last night (when I should have been getting much-needed beauty sleep) comparing various covers of "I Put a Spell on You"! I've heard the Creedance Clearwater Revival version most often (with the 1960s obligatory instrumental jam in the middle), and there was a Joe Cocker version that I'm willing to bet had Clapton doing a fine job on lead guitar.

'Nother Northwoods for me today. I'm not sure why I don't carry this one more often.

Xct7NEP.jpg
That's an artistic shot, Cannonball!

I always enjoy seeing your Euler's Identity stockman.
Thanks, Greg; me, too! ;)

Thanks GT! Great lanyard on the minichamp yourself sir . Ages ago I worked for an outward bound type program as a trip leader, and I knew all kinds of useful knots. I may remember 3 of those today . You have inspired me to get out my books of knots and relearn :).
...
Thanks, Tom, it's just a basic hangman's noose. I think I got the instructions from the Chris Reeves website. Pretty easy (has to be for me to do it :o); the toughest part was getting the 13 "loops" which apparently was required for "official hangings" back in the day.

...
GT - How do you carry so many beauties at once? Surely, one pocket isn't enough..... :)
No, one pocket filled with knives would put one's spine at risk, I think. :p My pants usually have at least 4 pockets and I have a little belt pouch in which I carry a cell phone (and flashlight and small multitool), so I just spread the knives around. Specifically, I usually have that Minichamp and another SAK hanging in LFP on that little suspension clip, I have another knife with a bail clipped to my keyring in RFP, I have 3 knives in the belt pouch with my phone, I have a trifold wallet that holds 3 knives and a diamond credit card hone in LRP, I have a larger knife in a leather slip also in LRP (or tool pocket on leg of carpenter jeans that I wear semi-often), that little scrimshaw stockman is usually in a leather thumb guard for whittling that rides in LFP, and I usually have some kind of little knife in my watch pocket. Oh, and my RRP carries my "real" wallet, along with a little nylon pouch that holds my bus discount card, a bunch of quarters, and a Peanut. Pictures available on request. :D

I enjoy using old pulp novels as backdrops, particularly when their colors complement the knife I'm photographing. :) The woman is shooting the evil space-tree, but not through the dude's legs. ;)
Thanks for easing my mind, Dadpool. :)

GT, It still makes me happy to see you happy with the little Euler's Stockman.

I challenged myself to carry the Farmer's Jack last weekend, and ended up carrying it all week. That little hawkbill is a joy to use opening packages, cutting plastic tarps, peeling fruit, etc.

And as usual I always need a little pocket scalpel, and there are few better than the coyote. :)

Happy is probably an understatement, Rachel; thanks for sharing your artistry! Glad to hear that your Farmer Jack Challenge worked out so well!

...
This one is still my favorite.

Something sort of aristocratic about that 25, Travman!

...
Having a change today, couple of oldies by Joseph Haywood and Taylor's Eye Witness. Have a good Friday everyone

Quite an aged, august pair, Jack! The reddish stag is awe-inspiring!

Speaking of red, you have a pair of red aces, JSCHENK!

...
I have a 26 today, just for a bit of something different.

Paul
That 26 looks like an advantageous knife, Paul! I know your heart belongs to 25s, but what are similarities and differences you've noted between the 25 and 26?

Your Calf Roper looks amazing, Alan! Love the no-frills bolsters!

It a Sodbuster Friday. Along with a Officer SAK
That old-school pair is absolutely appealing, deltaboy!

A custom for me today, from forum knife maker Shaerk. A modified version of his Little Bush. 6 1/4 inches long, with a 2 3/4 inch flat ground, convex edge, s30v blade. The handle is white TeroTuf, and it has a horizontal leather sheath. Fits snug in a KSF pocket sheath too. I am really happy with it and Caleb was a pleasure to work with.

Congrats on the new Shaerk, Tom! I know nothing about fixed blades, but I'll take your authoritative word that it's an A-1 acquisition!

That is an arresting Rooster, Gev!!

People sometimes find it odd that I carry quite a few knives simultaneously, but a dozen knives pale in comparison to all the stuff you carry when you're out and about with a baby!!:D:eek: Infinite adorable rewards with the parenting gig, Shawn, but good luck with all of the lifestyle adjustments, too! ;)

But, but... How will you open the package? :p
:D:D Astonishing insight, r8shell!

That's an admirable Barlow, TheFactor! (For some reason it reminds me a bit of my Spanish sodbuster, below.)

On kitchen duty for me this week are a GEC 85 and a JJ Martinez navaja de campaña:

Thanks GT !
I'm enjoying it immensely[emoji1303]
Really liking your 85 and JJ [emoji41]
My Barlo does look like your Sodbuster a lot .

GT, I'm starting to see just what you mean! There's stuff EVERYWHERE.

Don't worry Rey, I used a paring knife from the kitchen to extract this one! Kerry Hampton 3.5" Wharncliffe in some awesome stag. (#0)

   I still haven't become a huge fan of stag, but my lordy is that gorgeous! Congrats!

Thanks Shawn, sorry to keep you waiting so long lol. The UPS guy showed up with about 10 minutes to spare as I was ready to go to work.

I'm a fan of customs with stag because more times than not, the makers pick the best of the best to use. Wilfred Works certainly gets the best of course.

I toted the Peanut this morning, and then switched to the Opinel #8 (stainless) for a camping trip this weekend.

r9etWfZ.jpg

I haven't owned an Opinel for 15-20 years, and when I was younger I was disdainful of the one I owned. Through this forum, I've come to appreciate them. :)

I picked this one up today, and I'm fascinated to see how it does for food prep and miscellaneous camp chores. I was born in France, so I'm already enjoying the feel of having a French knife in my pocket. :D
