What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This one seems to keep finding its way into my pocket. I'm not complaining. :D

This arrived yesterday. I've had a BNIB one for my scout collection, but never one to actually use, so this is a fun treat. It's a great departure from the usual equal end scout pattern. Best of all, no tool can be closed on the bail, so no accidentally nicked blades!!! As utterly complicated as this 6-blade pattern was to produce, Camillus did a remarkable job with the fit.

Some beauties today ladies and gents

Got in from work and fetched this one for my pocket. Of all my #25s - I love this one the mostest!

This morning I sanded a layer off on my Rosewood 25 which helped removed some of the dark stain. It was just too dark before. The dark stain hide the grain of the wood. I think it came out rather nice.

Very nice- and a full five turns on the corkscrew is pretty rare in a knife.

I haven't been posting much, but I've been trying to carry one knife per week lately. Firsts it was the presidential, then the 77 barlow, and now it is the 92.

GT, I have trouble deciding day to day, I can't contemplate weeks at a time. Enjoy your vacation.

Alan
Thanks, Alan. I didn’t really give enough thought to what knives to take with me for two weeks away from home, but I just grabbed a couple of handfuls and figured that would have to do!

Thanks, GT! But don't be consternated! Here's the deal. When I see the "A New Day" logo, I start humming "it's a new day" to the tune of one of the Bond movie's theme songs. I think it is one of those brain cell overflows that is unexplainable.

Of all your knives, I like seeing the perfect equation (I believe that's what you said) knife the most. It also looks like it has the same setup as my favorite stockman frame (the Uncle Henry 897UH) - except for the sheepfoot nail nick being on the opposite side.

Have a great vacation. We'll keep a light on for you!
Thanks for the James Bond elaboration and the vacation well-wishes; my wife and daughter nap often while we’re away, so I can probably check in on The Porch every now and then. ;)
Thanks for the kind comment about my Rough Rider scrimshaw stockman. It does have a similar set-up to the 897UH, but it’s only 2 3/4” closed, and it has a pen instead of a spey blade. I also like seeing it, which probably explains why I carry it every day!

Well I am late as usual. There has been a lot of beauties posted up today. Today, I have been totin' the 3rd new to me knife this week. This 48 Improved Trapper came to me from the exchange. :D

Congrats on another new-to-you knife, Ron; I really like the jigging on that knife!!

Thanks GT, I was mainly in the house the other day, so thought the single Lambsfoot would suffice ;)

Nice new Whittler my friend, looking forward to seeing your vacation selection, hope you have a wonderful time
…
Thanks, Jack. For the past 18 months or so, I’ve had problems with falling asleep at my desk in the middle of working on something, so I was dreading a 5-hour drive to our vacation spot. But serious caffeine consumption before and during the trip, as well as continual eating while driving, made for a safe trip (and a wide-eyed night )!

Put this 3" Ohta drop point in my pocket today.

Outstanding Ohta, Gary!

Okay i'm pushing all in!

over to you R8shell

:D That's a full house.
Superb quartet, jrawk! Rachel, I think you’re undervaluing his hand; definitely four of a kind, maybe even a straight flush! :p

I’m experiencing double vision!! Nice!

Like every day for the past few months, the little Peanut has been along went along for the ride today. I took a quick hike, and started a small fire just to keep up my skills. Many a feather stick was made, an apple peeled, and a splinter removed. I have grown quite fond of this little guy, and I don't see putting her in the sock drawer any time soon.

That Peanut is petite and pretty, Ben, but also powerful!

Thanks , my friend!
GT, Those MAM knives could only br better if they offered them in carbon blades.
Totin' the Higo today.

I agree about the MAMs! That is a handsome Higo, FBC!

Despite my groaning table, I've not actually been to many flea-markets this year, or to a single 'car-boot sale'. Off to the first of the year this morning though, with my two trusty sidekicks :) Have a happy Sunday everyone

Those are splendid sidekicks, Jack ; I hope you don’t use them for “trade bait” at boot sales! I went to a flea market Sunday morning. I found 3 knives to buy there a year ago, but found absolutely nothing this year. :(

It's dark and stormy today, so I'm carrying my own sunshine. "Mello' Yello'" courtesy of Donovan.

Alan
Very cheerful, Alan, and as long as we’re remembering Donovan, you could call that a pair of “Sunshine Supermen”, too! :)

…
I've got a pair of red Barlows in my pocket for morning coffee. One (or both) will be replaced for grilling time this afternoon, though.

Nice old barlows, Shawn! Someday, I hope to find one something like yours.

A Boy's Knife and his Coyote:
You knoww how to turn a phrase, Rachel!;)

Mixing the old with the new. Classic shield on a modern slipjoint.

You sure have some wonderful, interesting knives, Bob!!

Terrific 2-blade version, Dschal!

Happy Yorkshire Day lads n lasses! ;)

…

Happy Yorkshire Day folks.

It's defo time for Pikelets and a cuppa!
Same to you Jack and Thom!! I wasn’t even aware there was a Yorkshire Day, and have no idea how to celebrate. I’m currently in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and a famous “regional food” here is the pasty. I think it’s usually attributed to Cornwall, but is there a Yorkshire pasty of any kind? I’d be MORE than willing to partake of one or more pasties to celebrate Yorkshire Day! :p

DHIII Stag Trapper in W2
…
Oh, man, magnificent stag!! :eek::thumbup:

…For me today:

Another fine pair, Tom! I wonder how many different fixed-folder pairs you could display??

I own MANY traditional knives and mean many. This however is the biggest sleeper I've ever owned. I never knew much about the farmers jack until Lyle's thread. Then the release of Lyle and Charlies #38's was my intro to this amazing knife/pattern:thumbup:

It just works and works so well!!! So comfortable in hand that it has to experienced to be appreciate.

That is a GREAT-looking knife, Paul, and your testimonial is very persuasive!!

Congrats on another fabulous scout knife, Buzz! You sure have a bunch of beauties!

While away from home for the next couple of weeks, I'll have a Vic Minichamp and Huntsman hanging in my left front pocket:

Resting in the bottom of that pocket, tucked into a whittling thumb guard, are a Vic Cadet II (thanks, Ken) and a Rough Rider small stockman (thanks, r8shell):
