What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Been carrying a KR Johnson sodbuster....which is the knife I'm about to give away in 2 more posts ;)

I've been carrying my Menefee Made Zulu all week, but I think I might switch it up to the Bruce Bump Blue Mountain Trapper tomorrow.

I know the knife purses catch a lot of flack around here, but I've come to think of them almost like training wheels. At least in my experience, they enable you to get comfortable, mentally speaking, with carrying a really nice, custom slip joint without all the mental anguish of worrying about scratching up the bolsters or shield. Now, after a month or two of limited pocket time, I'm ready to take the training wheels off:D

A big thanks to Jason (bakerg2g) for helping me overcome the anxiety over carrying this one:thumbup:

That looks great Josh!

You've got to watch out for Jason, you'll wind up broke and sleeping on the couch! :p

You'll never get that beautiful pocket polished bone if you don't take the purse off. Besides, touching up any minor marks on the metal is easy.

Just got this one in the mail. Some of you may have seen Gene's pics of it in the Knife Maker's Gallery. I asked him to make me one with a sheepsfoot secondary instead of a spey.

It's 3 1/2" closed with D2 and maroon linen micarta. His pictures show the color of the scales better than mine do.

Thanks Trey. Not only do I like the look of it, the curve of the handle has a nice feel in the hand too. I can see this one getting a lot of use.

Very attractive knife, and I like the idea of sheepfoot instead of spay.

My new Forge De Laguiole

I have that EXACT knife which was given to me as a gift by a family member a few years ago.

Watch it Vince! Running with pointy objects is not recommended! :)

S&M Railsplitter....

The bone on that particular knife is so nice.

Yeah, I felt the same way but nowadays carry loose in a pocket (or sometimes in a belt sheath) and so far even with keys, it still looks pretty good. You will be surprised just how more resilient the custom knives are. No worries.

Robeson Jr. Cattle

Beautiful old Robeson! I like the main blade on this one. Sort of reminds me of a railsplitter or sowbelly (or even the GEC Roper) clip blade.

Carrying the Menefee Dogleg today.
