What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Took a road trip down to Grand Prairie Knives today but I didn't buy a knife this time. Bought a bolt action pen instead. The Case/Bose Cattle Knife and GEC #14 went along for the ride.

That is one heavenly horn Barlow, Bob!

 That is some captivating cocobolo! I am a sucker for nicely aged knives.

Superb stag on that one, Ron!
When I see knives like the last two I really kick my self for not picking up a 73 when I had the chance.

That is a beautiful knife! Both new and old. I love how the wood has aged, looks like Ebony now!

Thanks! I bought it new probably a year and a half ago. I was pretty surprised how fast the cocobolo started to darken. In person it's not quite as dark as my ebony #15 Radio knife, but it's definitely a very dark brownish color. I didn't use any dye on it, just sweat and every so often a little mineral oil gets on it when I oil the pivot and wipe the knife down. I love the look of a used traditional. They take on such unique character.

No sign of my home internet connection getting fixed  I'm sneaking on by tethering my phone. We'll see how that works

Hope everyone is well and having a lovely Sunday :)

Beautiful Jack... Jack.

I'm enjoying everyone's pictures! I wanted to get outside with a favorite knife and my new hanx and snap something today, but I'm laid up with a pretzel spine instead. To be 20 again.

Thanks Colin, hope your back is feeling better soon, I share your pain my friend

Unbelievable that someone is turning out such high-quality work at that age, Jack!:thumbup: My productivity is already declining and I'm still a quarter-century from 90!

I am the same GT, I don't do anything like the amount of work I did 20 years ago! :D

Thank you Mr. Jack !

Regarding your carry today, such a nice photo of a great knife - hope Stan has a great 90th !!!:)

Thank you my friend, I believe Stan had a "surprise" family birthday party to go to ;) :D

Superb Catt Mr P

Great lines on that one Sam

I have my Stan Shaw Sheepsfoot with me again today, took some new pics yesterday, but I don't want to upload them with my precarious data situation

As always you are too kind.
That electrician is fantastic! Are the scales Bakelite? I have a couple with Bakelite and I just love them but they don't look near as good as yours...great knife.
Clay
Thanks, Clay. I'm not sure what those Holub handles are. Bakelite is what my black telephone "dumbbell-shaped" handset was made of 50 years ago, right? That's certainly a possibility for the knife handles. Whatever the composition, I agree that it looks good with the black swirling through the red.

One ole Catt in my pocket today:

Primble, my memory isn't what it used to be, but I think that Catt is one of my very favorites among all your stunning knives!:thumbup:

...
That half whittler looks great! Nice and thin with 3 1/4" that should disappear in the pocket.

Mark
Thank you, Gary! I always appreciate your comments (as do many on this Forum).

The look of those Rough Riders continue to draw me. I'll wager this one was also very sharp out of the box.

The leg knife covers are neat (although I am not of a fan of the pattern). What really drew me to the photo was the food. It looks delicious; what do you call it?
...
Here's another one that I'm carrying today.

Thanks for the compliments on the RR half-whittler, Mark & Dean. It was indeed sharp out of the box. Fine little knife, except for mismatched handles:

Dean, the food was just my version of a tossed salad: lettuce, fruits, nuts, seeds, vegetables, and that particular one had some left-over ground meat sprinkled on it. Your 38 sure is a looker!

...
In work with my duty piece;

Sort of surprising to me that, with all those amazing 25s you have, you carry that fine old peanut for work.

Duck confit and pommes sarladaises, this is how I love winter!

Food and knife both look delectable!

Three fine knives! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Congrats on the handsome Case stag congress, John! What's the complete blade combo on that one?

...
Captivating cutlery & culinary skills, as always.
I know it's what's on the inside that counts, but look at that outside.

Thanks, Dee. :) That pair of Northwoods is breathtaking!:thumbup:

Ram's horn Beerlow.

Very distinctive, elegant knife, Bob!

GEC #73 Scout in Cocobolo. It's gotten really dark over the last year.

That's an amazing transformation!

... Today I have some Ebony and some Stag. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! :D

Ron, my weekend definitely got wonderfuller when I saw that pair you posted! The stag 73s are all stellar knives, but the coloring on yours is especially noteworthy!

...
Mine:
Muy bueno bone, Rachel!

Both of these knives are striking! I really like that S&M stag with the big sheepsfoot; I enjoyed seeing it in several threads yesterday! Your football team gave it the old college try last night, and those knives are therapeutic consolation for the final result!

No sign of my home internet connection getting fixed  I'm sneaking on by tethering my phone. We'll see how that works

Your internet situation must be maddening, Jack; I hope it improves ASAP.
I sometimes wonder if I actually did the amount of work 20 years ago that I remember doing!;)
What a knife!

My weekend whimsy has turned to stockman knives I've received from BF members. I think I pulled out 9 of them!! I'll post 6 pics right now.

Feel better Colin, I've seen 20 too many times. And Jack, it sounds like you're ready for a satellite connection. Too bad they're so darn expensive. Really nice pic of that 25 Ken.

Thanks! It's really much nicer than I was expecting. The other blades are pen and coping. I believe it's a 2003 model. The fit and finish are absolutely perfect. This is my second Case and I am very impressed with the quality. I've got three more Case knives on order :)

Jack - That is certainly a special Sheepsfoot from a special cutler!:cool:

Gary - Thanks, I am glad I was able to improve your weekend! :D Your Ganzo looks very similar in appearance to current production Buck offerings. A great looking stockman!
