What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I sure did, my friend! Your one of the culprits ...lol :D:thumbup: My birthday is looming large and so I broke down and ordered a new GEC ( there is a fist time for everything) to compliment my oldness:eek: I hope Derrick picks a special one for me out of what he has in stock! I'm counting on you Mr. Bohn :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEVO!!!!!!! In honor of your Birthday, I just jumped in and ordered myself 2 74's (a smooth yellow rose & a spring green for myself........That's okay wasn't it???.......LOL :D

Harry Love your 73, amazing stag! That looks like real bone on your fixed blade, I like the Eagle head pommel. Good work on cleaning them up.

Thanks for the kind words Mark . I really doubt that the fixed blade handles are bone . The pommel is what we used to call White Metal . Real cheap stuff and I am sure that I would have not paid much for that knife because I never had much . Have not used the fixed blade for a few years and the fish knife since probably 1961 .

Harry, looking at the handles you can see saw marks and near the bottom of the pommel there is dye. Plastic does not take dye at all. It may be a cheap knife but bone is cheap too. If you want to test it, heat up a needle with a lighter or something and press it into the handle. If plastic you will have a small pin hole if not, it's bone.

Gevo Watch your mailbox this week birthday guy.:D

Thank you!! And thanks for the additional pictures. That really is a special knife indeed and the patina adds to its story:thumbup::thumbup:
There's no name on it and I wasn't sure that $40 wasn't too much, which may have something to do with my under-valuing it. But I couldn't resist it at the time and I'm glad now that I didn't.
