With this vintage Case knife, I have got the same feeling when I first discovered GEC, I am in a mad hunting/buying frenzy!!! Gotta catchem all!
I love this knife...

Jeff - Your bank account will never be the same my friend! I can't tell for sure the vintage on your CASE because I can't see the dots. I did notice the relief on the pile side for the nail nick is not there. I don't remember exactly what year they stopped that, but it was later in the 70's. It was apparently a cost savings. That Texas Jack is a terrific pattern. Congratulations on your new knife and your new passion.

I didn't get to post it yesterday but this 68 Pony Jack has been my constant companion this weekend! It is just a wonderful pattern! :)

I never tried a Buck 303 (or 301). This 303 arrived yesterday. I'm liking it so far. Went for an older version with a long pull. I don't think it was ever sharpened before I received it.

I like your Pony Jack Ron. That's the same covers I had on my first one. I only have the Ebony now. A very underrated pattern in GEC's lineup in my opinion.

Bob - Thanks, I totally agree with you on the underrated and that Ebony is quite the beauty my friend!

Very nice! I love Buck slipjoints. They are amazingly useful knives. When I go on week-long hunting or backpacking trips I took over which knives to bring... A Buck or two always find their way into my pocket.
That edge looks amazing! Great work!

It's my Peachseed TC today. I just can't bring myself to cut an apple with that clean blade just yet... Once one of my carbon traditionals cuts an apple no holds are barred!

Sunday night, but I'm stuck in Stag Saturday, I guess. Some impressive stag examples posted in the past couple of days!

Moose is Loose!

I got it out to look at for Stag Saturday & it just went in my pocket.
Notable Northwoods!

These today : One of my 73's and one of my 83's

Who makes that one?

Some wholesome wood for the weekend, too!!
Fantastic grain and photo, Travman!

Elegant ebony!

Pleasing Presidential!

Some fine scouts on display, too! Congrats, guys!
Rad red Robeson!

...
I just got this one in today. Internet research indicates that it was possibly issued to the Bureau of Aeronautics during WW2. The fit and finish is simply outstanding, as well as the condition. The main blade is remarkably full, like it had never been sharpened before I got my hands on it. I always marvel when I handle one of these old engineer knives. The level of craftsmanship on this specimen far exceeds most of what's available today.

Beauty, Buzz!

I found this one yesterday- my only Western scout. I love those scouts.

Wondrous Western scout, SP! (Do you have crocuses blooming already??)

...Nothing too special for me today.

Four fine knives for the weekend, Tom!

Changing things up a little today and slipped this old US made 34OT in my pocket for Saturday morning at the office.
Classic stockman, freekboi!

Navajas bien!!

Been carrying two at a time lately. Today I had my Washington Jack and my K-Bar Dogs Head Barlow ridding in my pocket.

That's the spirit, Randy! Carry 10 or 12 at a time, and you've got the whole week covered with no daily deliberations on what to carry! ;)

Thanks guys! I have to make sure to come around here at least once a day again! I have been around the internet (my watch interest has taken the forefront of my time) and swung back to the Porch to conclude: this really is the best place on the internet with certainly the nicest people!
+ 5K! Right on the money, Macchina!

...
Thanks, GT. Good to see you use your RRs everywhere!
Thanks Gary. Euro-stag makes me sound worldly, haha.
For this not-yet retired guy whose wife keeps saying I'm online too much, I really appreciate you folks, especially Gary, who takes the time to put together the multi-post reviews. Like getting a weekly digest. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words, Dean & Alan & Bugdoc! :)

Things I like...

Good stout boots, good stout knife, good stout stout... what more do you need??

...
Hope everyone is having a great weekend :) Todd Davison Sheepsfoot and IXL Barlow for me today...which I'd share with you if Photobucket would allow me  :grumpy:
I can see them in my mind's eye, Jack, and they're a lovely pair! ;)

Beautiful bone on display these days, of course!:thumbup:
...
I'm carrying this TC today.

Distinctive handles on that one, Dean; Tremendous Coloration!

...
I'm carrying the red Barlow today.

True Crimson, Dean!

Nice TC, Dean. Red bone is awesome when done right and :barf: when done poorly. GEC certainly got those right!

Been carrying this beastly beauty the past couple days.

It was very cold again in NJ so I decided to make a Beef Daube glazed in cognac. It's a dish from southern France using red wine similar to beef bourgonon. I have to let it sit over night in the fridge so that the flavors set in. With the appropriate traditional EDC for the evening of course. The wine used was Tete e Tete from Terre Rouge in California a close proximity to a Rhone Red and one of my wife's favorites.

Thanks Gary. That's a stainless 15 in American Elk. More importantly, I'm pretty sure I speak for all of us when I say we look forward to your comments. It's nice to be appreciated.

Felt a satin vibe when I gathered companions for tonight's shift :)

Thanks Ron! Its a 7 dot 73' red bone (more like brown bone but I don't care). There is a nail relief, though the pics you can't see it. I am currently bidding on quite a few to hopefully snag another gem.

Interesting knife

Cool pic, made me think of The Waltons :)

Yet another outstanding pair Tom

Great pic of a beautiful Barlow

Thanks my friend, hope you don't mind imagining the #25 Watchpocket Barlow I'm carrying today too (hoping normal service will resume later) :(

Nice-looking Congress

Yup, a few. I've had them covered for a couple of sub-freezing days, but they're tough little buggers. A couple new ones grew up outside the cover and seem just fine.
