What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I've also heard it called breastplate and sowbelly shields. Not sure why the last one. It is one of my favorites. And Todd accentuates the waist area also which really makes it stand out to me. Double bomb is my second fav. Lol
...
That corset shield has many aliases. I've also seen it referred to as bodice shield, Barbie shield, and swimsuit shield.

Thank you Gary :) That Rams Horn is a terrific looking knife my friend!
...
Thanks, Ron. I like the looks of both Rough Rider's Ram's Horn Bone and Marbles' genuine Ram's Horn.

...
MR359 is correct, GT, it's a very nice pattern, and they have lot's of handle variations in it.
Thanks for the confirmation, Jeff. I think that will be included in my next buying spree this weekend or next.

...
I probably look a bit like a Halloween character today, so I might as well choose suitable knives! :D I'm off to get a shave, and then stagger off to try and get my strength back with a healthy vitamin-laden lunch ;) Thanks for all your concerns while I've been ill, it's been very kind of everyone :)

Salutary black/orange pairing, Jack!

Had a bit of a relapse getting over my virus, so I might be going on a hike to the pharmacy :( Hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Sorry to hear about the relapse, Jack; I hope a complete recovery is just around the corner. (Is norovirus a current "epidemic" in Yorkshire? My wife and daughter are planning a trip to the UK for next month, and I think Bath, York, and Edinburgh are on their itinerary. I'm sure they'd prefer not to sample the norovirus aspect of local culture!) Another couple of superior shots of your satisfying knives. The lambsfoot is a superb addition to your "knives and water" series, and I almost missed the Abbeydale because I was distracted by the news articles!

Some select pics of that scout pattern lately, Buzz! (Will your Case scout be coming back anytime soon??)

...
Edit: I see I missed so many fine ones and just can't cover them all. Gary...thank you and your the man :D:thumbup::thumbup:
Thanks, Gev. I regretfully leave out many fine knives each day. I may not know knives, but I know what I like! :D

...
Thanks, GT. You're very kind. :)

I don't think I've ever seen your (or any) Sanrenmu before. It's a fascinating knife.
...
I took the scenic route to work this morning:

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Slick shot of your lambsfoot, Greg; the covers of that knife are chameleon-like, looking a little different in each setting.
I'd never heard of Sanrenmu before receiving that one from davek14. The brand apparently was becoming well-known among modern knife fans; my impression was that Sanrenmu was somewhat like a Rough Rider of moderns. Whatever the case, this Sanrenmu slipjoint is an enjoyable little folder.

That's a scrumptious Case canoe, Joe!

...
Thanks, Gary. How big is your Sanrenmu?
...
I decided to go black and silver today.

Dean, the Sanrenmu is 3", not including the little attachment loop.
You know I think highly of your Presidential, and a silver/black combo always looks stylish to me, so I think this combo of yours is swell! Do you have a rainbow of Cadets?

...
I have these two with me today.

OK, that silver and scarlet combo is also scintillating, Dean!! What motivated your recent SAK attack?

Gary, Intriguing that you don't know how to act with a folder!;) I'm drawn to the Barlow, esp. two blade patterns, whose two blades are so different and useful. Pull 'er out and get cuttin'!
Good advice. I should probably just keep that #77 Barlow on the kitchen counter where I can see, and use, it multiple times per day.

One week in, still totin' the heck out of this 77 Barlow! :D

Splendiferous Northfield, Dadpool! How are you liking the carbon steel? I think FDR, in commenting on carbon steel blades, said, "We have nothing to fear except fear itself."

You have TWO of them now, Jeff!?! Superlative pair!

Friday!!! :D Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

P&G and Ron, those are a seductive pair of knives!

Well done everyone!

Very nice Cases Jeff and two beauties Dean.

I'm carrying these three today.

Have a good one!

Ken K.
Sterling (literally?) triple play, Ken!!

All the feelings you've scattered in my heart
Are a road map to the places I have been
And now.. storms and rain can't wash away
The feelings burned deep within
And I keep reaching out for more

Simply sublime, Gev!

Gonna be these all weekend.

Stellar pair, Paul! With that color combo, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! ;)

Today the day is like the sky, blue ......

23hro83.jpg
That shocking blue Alox pruner is striking, Pt-Luso!

…
Thanks for the compliment on the dyed Speaker Jack, GT. I'm pretty happy with it. (Is there any ink left on the M-N pages of your thesaurus? ;) :D)
…
I’ve been carrying my dark brown Speaker Jack all week, but decided to change it up for Stag Saturday. :D

BUSTED!! :p I wondered if anyone would ever notice my patterns. When I first joined BF, I never visited this thread. But eventually I learned how it was the place to go to see a high volume and variety of amazing knives. I wanted to acknowledge the ones that really caught my eye, but repeatedly writing "Nice" or "Awesome" seemed less than ideal! ;) So I started developing my own little "thesaurus" of complimentary adjectives that I keep in a Word document that's usually open on my desktop. I often choose compliments alphabetically while composing my posts for the "totin' today" thread (1st comment has an "a" word, next has a "b" word, etc.) but have never been called out on that. For variety, I decided to use as many "m" words as I could, and you caught me, Barrett! :D:thumbup: Stay tuned, because I'll probably do the same thing with other letters for which I have a large collection of words (e.g., words starting with "s" - hey, that's this post  - words starting with "p", quite a few words in my "e" and "c" lists, too ... I think lots of people have noticed the apparent allure of alliteration for me. ;)

Suave stag #25, Barrett!

I wish there were more sunk-joints patterns to choose from, so smooth in the pocket.

Stunning photo and knife, Will!

The pile side scale is a bit darker
…
I’ve enjoyed your knives, Joe, and they look even better with the better lighting outdoors! That’s a stately old Imperial; any idea how old it is?

…Thought I lost this Radio Jack, found it today in my work computer bag of all places .

Congrats on the “new” Radio Jack, Tom! Gotta feel sensational to find a “lost sheep”!

These are a couple of knives that I've been using in the kitchen throughout the past week. They performed stupendously!

Some select pics of that scout pattern lately, Buzz! (Will your Case scout be coming back anytime soon??)
- GT

The Case is staying in the rotation for now, but I have run into some rather annoying aspects of Case's design. Stay tuned. I'm working on a post that details the scout's main design elements, and their execution by various US manufacturers.

My best guess on the Imperial is 50s. The Canoe has three X
This Case Texas Jack is a youngster.

I love the color and the grain in those scales. :)

I've been really enjoyin' this Copperhead gifted to me by a member here, wish I woulda tried this pattern earlier, one of these days I'll get a nice new tight one. Do they come in the yellow Delrin or a cheaper, less premium handle material?

Ted - Thanks for the compliment on my OO 73! :) The Copperhead is a great pattern.

P&G and Ron, those are a seductive pair of knives!

Gary - Thank you for the compliment! It's always great to see the 85!

Today I have gone a little exotic! #55 Houndstooth, Exotic Mexican Bocote, Wharncliffe. This is actually the very first Great Eastern Cutlery produced knife that I purchased! My bank account hasn't been the same since!:D Have a great Sunday everyone! :)

Fantastic photograph! May your feet be fleet and the angels of mercy accompany you ;)

Sorry to hear about your relapse, Jack. On the plus side, you'll have two great looking knives in your pockets on the way to the pharmacy!

Thanks a lot guys :)

Nice Joe

Nice! Or should I say, "WOOO!!" (I always interpret your avatar as throwing his head back and howling in approval for your knife) :D

+1  LOL! :D

Great-looking pair Gev

Wonderful Davison, Jack! I had a friend in high school whose parents had a dish of those same glass candies on their coffee table. :)

Thanks GT, there are a lot of different strains, but outbreaks are becoming extremely common here, particularly in the winter months. Your family definitely don't want it! You'll have to come with them next time, and we can hang out :) I am grateful for the kind words, as always. Excellent choice there

I'm still not on good form unfortunately, but have a couple of old reliables with me. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday

The Plum on that TC certainly brings out the passion :D;)

:) Thanks, Gev!

Gary, your Sanrenmu looked too big for comfort in your photo, but 3" sounds just right.

I used to have a rainbow of Cadets, but I sold off the Blue one and Orange (now I wish I hadn't sold the Orange). I think I saw a new post on SAKs here and it reminded me that I have several of them - over 40. I like the alox ones the best, so I decided to carry some different ones for a few days and then pick one to carry daily - it will probably be one of my Cadets as summer is coming.

That buffalo horn 85 looks scrumptious; what do you think of buffalo horn as a handle material?

Today's carry is an Ancient TC and an Alox Bantam.

Beautiful knives, everyone!

I've been quiet because I've been away... The family and I were out in Joshua Tree last weekend--lots of great hiking. I was totin' my Lon Humphrey Gunfighter Bowie... as well as a couple other things:

Thanks, SVT and Chunk! I got this one used (it looks brand new) without box and just can't seem to find out anything about it.

I do know it takes a keen edge and looks purty! :p
