What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Too many evening commitments over the past week kept me from spending as much time at BF as I typically do. So I missed about 15 pages in this thread since last Sunday. Here's a feeble effort to catch up by identifying one or two posts per page that caught my fancy.

this one still getting the daily use, sorry for the old pic, my computer crashed and I lost my editing software so I haven't had the ability to use my SLR for quite a while.

the past six months have been pretty much taken up with selling the old house, moving into temporary housing, and moving again into our new home, which needed and still needs lots of TLC. I swing by here when a can, and it's nice to be able to drop a few likes on some posts I see, and then be on my way. Cheers all!
Always great to see your toothpick, Duane!

That big Barlow is great. Does that make it a Great Granddaddy Barlow? ;) I just used my new Case Stockman in the kitchen cutting up onions and sweet peppers for Italian meatball sauce. I know it's not really an ideal kitchen knife, but it's a quick way to start a patina without technically forcing one with vinegar. Also, I admit that for all the time I spend keeping my pocket knives sharp, I neglect my kitchen knives.

I like those flattened penny souvenirs & I'll have to look around for where mine are, pretty sure I have one from the UFO Museum in Roswell, NM. I remember once finding a website that told you where those machines are located.
The paperwork calls the big Remington Barlow "Big Daddy Barlow", but I like your creativity! ;)
All I ever use for food prep any more are traditional folders.
I should look for that penny machine locater. I wish I'd started collecting the penny souvenirs much earlier than I did.

The one on the top. An AG Russell "War Eagle" medium stockman.
3 1/2" with amber jigged bone covers and 7Cr17MoV (~440A) blade steel.
I am particularly appreciative of the nail nicks for the Clip and Sheepsfoot being on the same side. Those are my two most frequently used blades. No blade rub either.

Those War Eagles look great, Frank! 64th birthday presents, weren't they?

Gary and Ted that Farmer was in my pocket for a three day camp trip. There is not a lot that that knife can't do. Gary, It sounds like you might have your next purchase figured out. :D
...
Not a bad idea, FBC; I've been drooling over some Vic Farmers at DLT for quite a while, and should put my money where my drool is! ;)

... I spent 4 hours this afternoon in two different dentists offices getting a root canal. :( This Ebony Spear 15 TC brought me some much needed comfort! :D

Distinguished knife, Ron, to take the sting out of the less-than-ideal experience of a root canal. I hope you're pretty much recovered by now!

I haven't checked in for a few days - so many gorgeous knives posted!
...
I'm happy to see your magnificent Presidential again, Dean!:cool:

...
I haven't posted much or at all lately. I've been rather ill for some time. I just got out of the hospital on Friday and I'm finally starting to feel much better. I had my gall bladder removed.
...
I went with a couple of my favorites today.

Have a great day everyone!

Ken K.
Glad to hear you're feeling better, Ken, and I hope your recovery continues!

Great pic of your lambsfoot, FBC!
From an old John Prine song: "Sell my heart to the junkman, and give my love to Rose."

Off to the market early tomorrow :) Thought I'd carry some stag ;)

Any day with double stag is bound to be auspicious, Jack!:D

That's an exquisite knife, Marty!!

Thought this one was due for some use, so will start to include in my rotation.

Outstanding Orchard Gem, Paul!

Thanks, Jack. I'll be carrying my I*XL Barlow for awhile. For some reason, it is resonating with me now.
...
That's an interesting development, Dean!

Classic pair in black Valox and yellow Delrin, Rachel! Still enjoying the "carry all week" approach?

...
I had a busy day at work today. I put this '74 Case Red Bone to work on several packages! :D

Toting this little USA 2 dots today.

Ron and Falling_rain, those are a couple of incredible Cases!

Thanks so much GT--it's been a special couple days. ...
Cool carries, btw... especially that Holub electrician! Lots of character on those blades.
Thanks, Aias. :) But I sometimes wonder if "lots of character" is polite code for "when you gonna clean that thing up a bit" which is a perfectly appropriate comment in the case of my Holub. It deserves a little attention from me to make it more presentable.

Gary, I always admire your gift from Rachel. I'm recording the series Genius of late. A great series:cool::thumbsup:

Just enjoyed a great cigar after a full day of yard work. The Lick Creek saw major use today, opened half a dozen cypress mulch bags for starters and even sliced my left hand index finger in the process:thumbsup:

A good clean cut and didn't even realize until it became a bit of a messo_O

Thanks, Paul. :)
I don't seem to watch much TV anymore, but I'm sure there are plenty of things I'd enjoy if I made the time to watch. Genius is about Einstein, right?
Man, your Lick Creek looks pristine for being a working knife, especially after a day in the mulch and blood! ;) Awesome knife!

Some of my knives this past week are displayed below.
A Rough Rider half whittler that rode in my bus pass pouch all week:

As always, a chestnut jigged bone CV Case Sodbuster Jr I won in a BigBiscuit GAW was next to my cell phone in a belt pouch:

In the kitchen this week, my food prep was facilitated by a Marbles leg knife and a JJ Martinez marinera:

For the most part, yes. I'll carry the same set all week. Unless there's a particular task that calls for something different. Or a new knife shows up. Or a whim... :p

I should look for that penny machine locater. I wish I'd started collecting the penny souvenirs much earlier than I did.
Me too. Back when pennies were all copper. :)
Nice looking nautical knife. What is the shield/inlay material?

Thanks, Aias. :) But I sometimes wonder if "lots of character" is polite code for "when you gonna clean that thing up a bit" which is a perfectly appropriate comment in the case of my Holub. It deserves a little attention from me to make it more presentable.

Nope! I say it as I mean it... I love to *see the usage*... it says history, work, the passage of time... and reminds me of the knives/ tools my maternal grandfather used to store in a dusty room in his home. I could explore in there for hours; sadly all that is gone. So, when I see a knife like your Holub, I see the character of things of a yesterday long gone but sweetly remembered.

Thanks for posting knives like that... and don't clean it up!

Great knives everyone!

I'm still a little slow in posting lately. I'm feeling better every day. A belated thanks to Ron, Jack and Gary for your well wishes.

I carried these two today.

Have a good one!

Ken K.
Good deal Ken. Glad you're doing better.
