Another fantastic foto of Rosie, Dylan (and a terrific choice for phone "wallpaper")!And I always welcome reading recommendations; Stevenson is familiar to me because of a card game called "Authors" that we played often in my youth, but I don't recall ever reading an original work of his.
It's always a treat to see that scrimshawed stockman Gary.
I'll admit I don't follow this thread like I used too, but I felt compelled to post a pic of a knife that has been neglected a lot lately.
The one that started it all...

Beautiful pairing,GuestWho101 ! But that 15 though... I cannot place the red covers though. Smooth bone? Acrylic?
These two have become a rather inseparable pair as of late. Somewhat rare for me to go anywhere without these two in my pocket. Some might say that it is an exercise in redundancy and they are right perhaps. However, they please me and that is all that matters to me. A Case 31 and Rosie perched prettily in the background.

63032 is a good pattern. Nice blade shapes, good size. Is that the Persimmon Orange Bone? It looks really nice.Just got this one in the mail, the picture doesn't do the orange justice at all. 1st traditional since probably scouts and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks for the reply, Jeff. What a special knife that snakewood Viper is!There is a TEEEEEENY TINY little crack at the narrow side of the lanyard hole that you practically need a magnifying glass to notice. They filled it with epoxy or something too so I am utterly unconcerned about it.
Very functional pair with outstanding form as well, Jack!
Stellar stag, Kris!!Thanks Harry! Have been busy with the pigs, and I also run my shop 4 days a week. I am a Master mechanic, and I focus on BMW, Volvo, Audi and Porsche, but I work on everything from big rigs to motorbikes.
Friday is my day with my daughter at home, these two tried and true are with as we head to feed the pigs on this beautiful morning.

Thanks for the additional opinions on Stevenson, Dylan!...
Robert Louis Stevenson was one of my (many) favorite authors growing up. His most notable or popular works are stories that you are perhaps familiar with such as Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Master of Ballantrae, among others. Definitely recommended if you are looking for adventures written in a manner that is unlike most of what you would read in today's books.
...
I cannot tell you how beautiful I find that Northwoods knife. Most Northwoods knives I see, though remarkably attractive, are generally featured in a rather pristine condition.... Yours has the marks and character befitting a wonderful user and that is synonymous with beauty, in my humble opinion.

LOT of blade in your Trestle Pines, Falling_rain!
Ran across this and it works , put chap stick on your blades and it prevents rust!I had a nasty surprise when I went to grab my 77. Some gnarly rust had formed.
![]()
I hit it with some 2k grit and now it's good as new(minus quite a bit of pitting).
And lately the 110 just won't leave my hip.

Thanks, Erik; that's a treat I get to enjoy EVERY day!!
And thanks also for the pic of your Presidential; for some reason, even though I know better, that's still the knife I associate with you, and a knife I admire greatly!!
Thanks, Jack. You go to see Dr. Dracula, eh?
Those venerable warriors remind me of seven samurai, Gev!

Thanks for the encouraging words, Ron!
You have so many noteworthy knives, but maybe that OO 73 takes the cake, IMHO!!
Thanks for the reply, Jeff. What a special knife that snakewood Viper is!
Very functional pair with outstanding form as well, Jack!
Stellar stag, Kris!!(I'm glad to hear you're still using your mechanical talents in the shop, in addition to the livestock venture.
)
That's a spectacular vintage Barlow, Tom, and I like the color combination you've got going there!
So you figure your nephew should be, what, about 40, before he's old enough to get that knife???
Pair of Jacks wins, Randy!!That Italian sodbuster is charming, and the red bone on the 15 is, IMHO, some of GEC's best! And then the "sentimental value" of the knives is stratospheric!
Congrats on receiving that intriguing French knife, Alan!Very thoughtful, Jolipapa!

That's a classic yeller nut you picked up, delta boy; congrats!(And in other threads I've seen some excellent photos of it; you ought to post photos more often!
)
Congrats on the cool orange stockman, TYPE-R!(But be careful - folks around here have a way of talking you into picking up way more nice knives than you really need!
)
Thanks for the additional opinions on Stevenson, Dylan!And your opinions on Erik's Presidential align quite well with mine - that's a memorable, desirable knife!!
Speaking of memorable and desirable, your pair of wood-clad workhorses need not take a backseat to any!
LOT of blade in your Trestle Pines, Falling_rain!
This week in the kitchen, I've been using a Mercator Black Cat, a big Buck toothpick, and my new Opignel my daughter bought for me in Spain:

Nice change of pace Kris! Thanks for sharing that.Thanks for the comments, fellas, much appreciated. Here is a shot of the Boker open, a very well made knife with pinned shield and 440C, the double row teeth on the saw work very well, nicely matched stag, great swedge on the main, pile side only, to make it more comfortable in hand when using the saw.

I like how in low light you can see that nickel-silver bolsters are a different color than the steel blade. In bright light it all just looks silver.
