That's a knockout, FBC; admirable color in the bone!!:thumbsup:

Carrying this Boker 492 that I got the other day.

Kabar B today

The Böker Barlows with the tree on the bolster sure are bewitching; congrats, Steve, on obtaining that one recently!:cool: That Ka-Bar is also a big-leaguer in my book!:cool:

Commendable cutter, Jeff!!:cool::thumbsup: I tend to see myself as someone who prefers multi-bladed knives, but those stag 73s sure make me think twice (or 100 times)!! ;)

Love this knife!!! Have a great weekend!

That's a delightful old redbone Case, Jeff!!!:thumbsup:

Exemplary little black knives, Travman; very elegant!!:cool::thumbsup:

Those "naked" Imperials are some of my favorite knife models; nice jack, H&S!!:thumbsup:

I'm getting acquainted with Linus today.

YHYU2VA.jpg
Glad to read in the lambsfoot thread that you're getting along better with this ebony version, Dylan; I think it looks incredibly graceful!!:cool::thumbsup: I'm a little familiar with the story behind Rosie's name, but why Linus??

Ebony #25 once again, on picnic duty earlier today.

Your 25 seems to be very helpful on your UK trip, Barrett :cool:; are you pleased with the knife's travel performance? British cuisine is often the butt of jokes; how are you finding the fare there?

Thanks, guys. I think we'll be alright in Austin, but I'm concerned for folks to the south. I heard the storm's expected to stall out and dump rain until the middle of next week.
My thoughts and prayers for the great state of TEXAS and all that are in harms way on this Sunday morning!

This morning is Ebony and Stag for me! :)

Can't help but share Ron's prayers, and can't help but stare at Ron's pair of knives!!:thumbsup::cool:

Vintage day 5
New to me Hibbard Spencer Bartlett and Co "peanut". Also first experience with what I think is celluloid - to me it blows away acrylic!

The OVB stamp is their Our Very Best brand. I have no idea on the date or actual maker.

Vintage day 6
Russel Barlow in black saw cut bone. Someone before me was a bit over zealous with a grinder or sander on the blade.

Jeff, you're showing off a lot of voluptuous vintage variety of late!!:cool::cool::thumbsup: Any chance of an eventual "recap" that includes a group shot of all your beauties?? The celluloid covers on your OVB are quite irresistible, but be aware and be wary that it could literally "blow away" acrylic and bone and wood and stag knives if the celluloid starts outgassing!:(

That's really beautiful and different JP! I agree about the unique qualities of a well preserved cel knife.

You probably already know this but it's worth repeating... keep it far away from the rest of your collection. You never know when it may break down and ruin itself and other knives.
That gold/black checkerboard effect is jazzy, Tom!;):thumbsup: Thanks for the good advice re cel covers!

...
This was my EDC for a few months.... now its only for specials occasions....

’til later….
KAW

That style cel, along with the tip bolsters, is quite lavish, KAW!!:cool::thumbsup: What do they call that? Something with molasses, or butterscotch, or root beer, or peanut butter, or honey, or something quite tasty IIRC!:p

...I'm carrying these two today :)

Magnificent covers and photos, Jack!!:cool::thumbsup: I'm usually not a fan of smooth, light-colored covers, but that white is quite alright!!;)

Ankermesser in anticipation of the arrival of my BF Barlow :)
I can see the resemblance, Mark; noteworthy Ankermesser!:cool: I hope your BF Barlow arrives safe and soon!! :)

Outstanding oldie, Mark!!:thumbsup: Does that LF&C have bone covers, or is that a "jigged synthetic" of some kind?

Little ones in the pockets today .

Harry
That little pair packs quite a stag punch, Harry!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

What a quality Peanut, Gary!!:thumbsup::cool: That wharncliffe secondary is a splendid touch!:thumbsup:

Have my EIG trapper out today. It's a workhorse.
View attachment 756621 View attachment 756622
Tom, that revered red trapper does indeed look like it's capable of quite a workload!:thumbsup::thumbsup: (But, showing my inexperience again, what is EIG?)

Stately pairing, Sarah!:thumbsup::cool: IMHO, those GEC 68s are underappreciated, or at least underrepresented in photos here; how about a couple of glamor shots of your Pony Jack??

Again, I think I have space for only one photo of a knife I've been using this week. I'll "spend" it on this little Chinese Imperial sodbuster that I've been using in the kitchen all week. I spruced up the edge a bit on a candy dish cover, and the knife has just blown me away this week in terms of performance! I can't believe you can get a knife this capable for $5! Maybe Taylor-Imperial has problems with consistency, and I'm probably lucky I obtained such a trouble-free example (I AM quite fortunate in my knife life, for the most part), but still...

But, of course!

(We've already been eating apples together.)

I missed this pattern when it first appeared, viewing it (from afar) as too similar to some of my other knives, redundant in light of my #15 jacks, etc.

Beholding the knife person, while at the GEC factory for the Rendezvous? I was a magnet to this steel, inexorably drawn back to the the knife again and again until it jumped into my pocket. I love jack knives, and consider this one (quint)essential in its goodness-- ebony, all steel, beautiful in its equal-end proportions.

:)

Thanks, Sarah!:cool::) That's certainly a knife that's ravishing in its simplicity; equal-end ebony is very dignified.
"all steel" includes the bolsters, I suppose? I didn't realize that was a feature of the #68s. Your jack is the cat's meow, but the White Owls with the opposite-ends blade set-up is also enormously appealing to me! ;)

Thanks.... you're close.... they call it Butter & Molasses.... ;)

Brave of you to post a Chinese Imperial.... ....but if I know I'm gonna beat up on a knife, I'd rather carry such, than some thing already vinatage....
which is why altho razor sharp, this 75+ year old knife is no longer my EDC....

Nice duo of Forum Knives. Due to great good fortune, I shall be getting the same two in the post over the next week or two. Think I might strop up the TC forum bolster though, I like 'em shiny:D:thumbsup:
