What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

When I got home yesterday this was waiting for me. In the pocket today!

In addition to the North Carolina-related Battle Axe whittler that I posted yesterday, I have collected the following for my sojourn to the Old North State to attend my high school reunion this weekend: Case Mini Trapper (3.5" closed, 1940-1964), Vic Cadet (3.5" closed, 1986-2008), and a Parker Frost UNC Tarheels commemorative lockback ( 3 1/8" closed, early 1970's). The latter knife is left over from a batch that my stepfather commissioned from Parker Frost while I was away at law school, so I don't know the exact dates. He had batches made for UNC, N.C. State, Wake Forest, and Duke and planned to sell them via alumni groups and at football games. I told him that the latter idea, handing out knives at ACC football games, was fraught with danger and legal liability. He, reluctantly, agreed and pursued the former approach.

Very nice Sowbelly. Seeing the Moki reminded me that was one I was going to pick up...... prompted me to order a large model :) Thanks!!!

An exciting package arrived though to door today - no trekking down to the P.O. to collect it either. So I was able to carry it a bit this afternoon and it's my choice for tomorrow as well

Inside a really FINE Winchester Black Box Sowbelly:cool: A fantastic quality knife pouch and above all else a Liberty Half Dollar-don't have any of these and I'm elated:D

Many thanks to you Bob my friend :)

Thanks for the kind words, Dean. :) I wish I could reliably replicate the quality of some of my best photos, but photography seems to still be a crap shoot for me.
Those simple wooden Case knives certainly appeal to me!! Yours looks all business!:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

My Alox knife of the Week is a 1986 Soldier (thanks, Ken):

Thanks, Gary! I love those Alox Soldiers; and you have a good one.

Thank you very much! And love the pumpkin picture, perfect for the season and that Case is a great knife : )

Thank you, Drew!

I had this Tip Top Barlow on the trail today. I took this photo just before the downpour (of rain) started, which changed the whole nature of the hike.

@dispatch184 Thank you very much. I love it and it makes me happy to just have it in my pocket.

@Travman Lovely pic. I used to Fox Hunt horseback with terriers. I used JRKs, so I had to use terrier bags on the horse.

Buzzbait Buzzbait I had an MD-USN, but I lost it moving and still can’t find it. It was given to me by USN Medical Officer I worked with in the 90’s. After I saw your thread the other day, I tore up some old boxes looking for it, but to no avail. Lovely knife - that’s for sure. I love all your Scout Knives and I like that you know exactly what makes you happy with knives. Sometimes, that’s hard to define.

D Duckdog I hope you have a wonderful reunion. I was surprised at both of mine and just how much most had changed for the worst. Pro tip: don’t drink. Enjoy! Thanks for all your well received likes.

Thanks. There's just something about scouts. So much history associated with them. So many promises of adventure in the old Boy's Life magaziness. The scout is the one style of knife that never fails to make me feel like a kid again. There are prettier patterns out there. Probably even more useful patterns. It's not like can openers get used much these days, and leather punches are hardly an oft used tool for most. But what a scout does do well, speaks to where I'd prefer to be in life; hiking and fishing, building campfires and lean-tos, and eating baked beans out of can while I sit on a log under the stars. Opening a knife like the MD-USN is akin to opening a box full of possibilities. These knives transport me to a far better place.

Buzzbait Buzzbait Love it. Awesome. I’m an Eagle Scout and have other titles, but I agree completely with your sentiments.

I have a long weekend @ Petit LeMans. The obvious choice for me is my favorite scout knife these days - SAK Tinker. The Phillips head makes it my ‘easily pocketable compete package.’ The Euro Barlow to make my exotic car pals ohh and ahhh.

Hopefully, I can get some get some good pics of knives with race cars as a background.

Thanks, Jack.

Get one, you will not regret it! I did char it myself. If you want details, feel free to pm or email me.

Thanks, Gary. I think "sacroiliac sack" is my favorite. :D:thumbsup:

This A Wright Sheepfoot made it's maiden pocket voyage today.

Beautiful horn on that one. I often forget that Wrights produces more than just the Lambsfoot knives. An exceptional sheepfoot!

This pair in this sheath combo is so perfect I have carried it in my RFP since I got the Lone Wolf/Loveless City knife.

I always enjoy seeing those CC forums knives when they pop up. They did such a beautiful job on those and the wood always looks fantastic.

Thank you my friend, I experience that same feeling many, many times a day! :D A splendid pair :)

Wow! That looks even better than I remember! :)

I'm carrying these two today :)

A fine duo today, Jack! The jigged bone looks great!

I love how red this knife becomes in the sunlight. My dog can smell a fox who has moved in to our park.

That red soup bone does me in every time. Such a stellar looking knife!

My pockets are full today! These possess two of my fast favorites when it comes to cover materials; Ebony and a variation of Red Bone.
