I decided to give this Case Coffin Jack some time in the pocket today!

Yowza, Ron, you were certainly barking with the big dogs yesterday!!!...Wooden Wednesday!!

Congrats on that venerable Case stockman, Harry!!
But a good finish, Alan! Congrats from a born and raised NYY "hater"!
Now, I feel un-evolvedI am pleasantly surprised about how tough that charred finish is. The MAM gets rattled around with change, key chain and whatever else is in my pocket at least a couple times a week. Still makes me kind of chuckle to myself that it is probably my most inexpensive knife and my most carried.
I couldn't find the cargo pants and I don't own suspenders ... yet, so I just went with the Winchester whittler.

Yup, unmatched all right.Sort of a Jekyll and Hyde set up.

Thanks, Stuart and Tom.Uniquely cool trio today BTW GT!
A preeminent pair, Jack! Thanks my friend, a tiring day, but it was good to see the boysI do have one of those Gunboats GT, a generous gift from @scrteened porch
A fab threesome there, but why do you call the Joker a Barlow?
Hope your week is going well

I thought I'd carry a Lambsfoot
Paired with my Radio Jack, one of my all-time favourite knives![]()
![]()
GEC calls it a Pony Jack, but I'd push the adjective one letter farther in the alphabet and say it's a Quintessential Jack!![]()
An apple a day, patina holds sway.
Regarding this #68 Pony Jack in ebony:
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

Those look like a couple of knives you can depend on, Randy!
Not a vintage Barlow today, Steve, but just as handsome!!Utica Jack today

That Bad Axe is a bad axx congress whittler, Stuart!I'm getting ready to go down to the coast of North Carolina for my . . . th high school reunion this weekend, so I am gathering some knives to carry with me. This large congress whittler from the once re-incarnated Battle Axe brand (Hickey & Shouse) is going, as J.W. Hickey and Tommy Shouse were both from Winston-Salem, NC (though I understand that the knives were made by F. Olbertz, Solingen). Since that period of Battle Axe production was around 1975-1990, it started well after I graduated from high school. It's a bit showy, but isn't that what reunions are for.

The bolsters are not brass; the reflected light from the trees cast a brassy glow on the knife.

Das Ankermesser ist wunderbar, oldtymer!!
Congrats on the dapper and dignified Churchill, Corn Fed!
Congrats on that immaculate Black Box Winchester Sowbelly, Will!!!An exciting package arrived though to door today - no trekking down to the P.O. to collect it either. So I was able to carry it a bit this afternoon and it's my choice for tomorrow as well
Inside a really FINE Winchester Black Box SowbellyA fantastic quality knife pouch and above all else a Liberty Half Dollar-don't have any of these and I'm elated
Many thanks to you Bob my friend

That's one long, cool, drink of water that I'm sure a desert-dweller like you really appreciates, Barrett!...
Carrying this #48 Weasel today.

Thanks for the kind words, Dean.
Useful SAK, Dschal, and that full moon shot is idyllic!!Last night at Stratton Pond. Used the blade for food prep, and the scissors for moleskin today....

+5K!!This TC has been my carry for a couple of weeks. I really like the single spear blade.
F & F are just perfect. It is as nice as any custom that I own. All steel is great.
I'm not a Barlow guy. But this is such a fine knife.

Yesterday and again today

Man, Rob, you are rockin' some classic knives lately!!!Old Robeson spear today.

GT, thanks for the compliments on the Battle Axe. I don't know that I can carry off the fanny pack, but I have ordered a multi-pocket plaid wool vest for the coming fall and winter. Oh, the carry opportunities (in addition to my pockety pants). That Bad Axe is a bad axx congress whittler, Stuart!Safe travels and happy times at your reunion!

Both are really cool, GT, but that worm groove is ultra cool.Yowza, Ron, you were certainly barking with the big dogs yesterday!!!
And your OO #73 for WoodWed is unforgettable!
Congrats on that venerable Case stockman, Harry!!The round bolsters and rich bone are fantastic!
But a good finish, Alan! Congrats from a born and raised NYY "hater"!
Very fine whittler, FBC!
You're not "un-evolved", you just haven't had time to evolve as far as me; I'm a manly man far past the prime of my manhood, and as such I could make the next evolutionary step to the fanny pack (or butt bag or sacroiliac sack or pelvic pouch or, my current favorite, hip-hugging hamper).
Thanks, Stuart and Tom.
A preeminent pair, Jack!I have no idea why I called that Joker a Barlow, Jack.
I didn't even realize I did until you pointed it out. I suppose I could blame it on advancing years, or 4 hours of sleep the night before, or preoccupation with all the gorgeous Barlows on which I commented in that post, or simply "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune"!
Life and my mind are both quite mysterious to me!

Congrats on that immaculate Black Box Winchester Sowbelly, Will!!!Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard! Plaudits to Bob for sending such a fine knife overseas!
That's one long, cool, drink of water that I'm sure a desert-dweller like you really appreciates, Barrett!Best wishes for you and the Diamondbacks!
Thanks for the kind words, Dean.I wish I could reliably replicate the quality of some of my best photos, but photography seems to still be a crap shoot for me.
Those simple wooden Case knives certainly appeal to me!! Yours looks all business!
Useful SAK, Dschal, and that full moon shot is idyllic!!
+5K!!Totally agree with you, hamsco!

Not to digress or hijack the thread, but I've been drinking Jim Beam Black Label for years and appreciate your efforts.Dschal glad to see you like Jim Beam ! I make that very product and appreciate the support! Nice pictures .
Thanks Ratbert. It's a beautiful spot indeed. The night I was there, I was the only one camping in a tent, though there were certainly some people at the shelter. There are still a few through hikers on the LT/AT.Spent a very pleasant autumn night (even without the Beam!) at Stratton Pond while section hiking the AT many years ago with my Dad. Still one one of the nicest spots I have ever camped.
