What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Randy, are you gonna use a "dirty ol' pocket knife" to cut it up? ;)

Absolutely Jeff I'm surely not going to use a "clean", cheap, serrated imported wanna be steak knife to saw up a $15 to $20 slab of Black Angus cow. ;):D

Lol! Well, my pocket knives are never dirty! And def sharper than the ones he wife use....

You’re very welcome, Randy!

SVT I don't know why but Ann has always related a pocket knife or sheath knife to a dirty old tool. The main blade of any knife I have in my pocket for the day always gets a quick bath in Dawn and hot water then I swipe the blade with a paper towel that has drop of mineral oil on it first thing. I do this because I use what ever I'm carrying to cut up my food. She has watched me do this for decades so I don't get it. Last Thanksgiving (in fact I posted about this) I sharpened up my Buck 119 washed it good and proceeded to carve the turkey. The only comment she made was "I hope you washed that nasty thing".:eek:

Curtain & Clark (curved ) / Kansas City
Curtain & Clark was a hardware store and did not make their own cutlery. Research indicates they were in business from 1898 -1910 but as noted by AccuJohn in the thread linked below, he found Levines has them around from 1890-1920. I wish I could find a picture of both stores !! The one in St. Josephs, Missouri and the Kansas City store :D I've seen knives stamped with both. Some of our esteemed porch members have a few. I've read some of the knives were made by Tidioute Cutlery Co. in Tidioute, Penn, (1909 – 1916) and Schatt & Morgan. This particular cattle knife looks NYKCo to me...I wonder

This was my EDC for years as a teenager, so I figured it might be nice to try the combo out again.
( made sure to include the little guy in the pic in case the miniBuck isn't traditional enough )
Of course I always had some cheapo flea market special as a primary folder, and I had a pocket clip attached to the miniBuck as well as modified it do I could do that stupid spyderco flick thing .
I regret ever having modified it, because I feel I was just a dumb kid who didn't know anything and one handed opening or pocket clips have no business near this knife.

Wife requested filets tonight. A way to celebrate the whole family finally getting over a nasty bug (I hope we are anyway). Homemade mashed taters, homemade bernaise sauce and steamed asparagus. Al Warren helped me disassemble them.

That Christmas plate. My mom still has one that I made as a child. I'm 50 now. I cant believe they still have those. That's cool. Keep that forever man.

Oh we will. Max is 11 now. We have some for the 3 older boys. Need to do one each for the two youngest.

Absolutely stunning Will. If you run across any navigable water on your trip I've got a Northwoods Canoe with me today.

That stockman is a baron of the pattern, Stuart!!:thumbsup::cool: Intriguing blade combination!

Thanks for the kind words my friend, that's a cool-looking penknife :)
Thanks, Jack. :) That Landers, Frary, and Clark pen knife is one of the oldest I have, but it's lonely. Because of the celluloid covers, it sits on the top of a window frame in the living room when I'm not carrying it!

Thanks Gary. Yes it's an 83, a great pattern in any cover.
Thanks for the verification, Alan.

Duckdog yu inspired me to carry a "Queen for the day". :D:D

Your sheep/pen round-bolstered Queen Barlow is a lovely czarina, Randy!! ;):thumbsup:

Thanks GT. The F&F is impeccable. I'll keep up the research.
Good luck in your quest for more info, Tom!

1965 Gary??? Certainly you didn't graduate back then? your youthful looks contradict that;):D
Good eye on the ring, Paul (but the "youthful looks" comment makes me wonder if you're due for an eye exam :D)!! o_O:thumbsup: But I think the angle (or my lack of photo skills) misled you a bit; the high school class ring actually comes from 1969, which doesn't make me much younger. (I DID graduate from 8th grade in 1965 at my little 3-room schoolhouse, and managed to finish high school in 4 more years - no redshirt! :p)

Your Böker is a duke among Barlows, Steve!:thumbsup::cool:

Happy Friday All!

Any difference in these two? Using 2 different hosting sites.

A)

B)

I can see them both, Tom, and they look identical to me (but I have cataract surgery coming up in a couple of months ;)). That BSK is an emperor!!:thumbsup::cool:

Today’s Boker is far more ostentatious. LOL.

Wow, that one IS a "femme fatale" of camp knives, Buzz!!:thumbsup::cool:;)

Had the Taylors Eye Witness Sheepsfoot and the Camillus 72 with me as I finished my project .

Harry
Your cane is looking great, Harry!:thumbsup::thumbsup: What will you do for the bottom end? Some kind of rubber tip, some kind of hardware "foot"?

Thank you, Gary. It was given to me by a very kind and thoughtful gentleman who goes by the moniker "5K Qs." I've been waiting for appropriate weather to add it to the carry roundup. I like how the Farmer has just a little more heft to it in hand. Thanks, again. ;):):thumbsup:
You're welcome, Dean! :thumbsup::thumbsup::)

View attachment 780313 Totin' my 1980 Case Canoe again today. I thought I'd share a closeup of just the blade. To me, the patina creates a stormy looking background to the Canoe etch.
Lance, your Case canoes are grand viziers compared to my multitude of Rough Rider canoes!!:thumbsup::cool:;)

Had to cancel my hike today due to work commitments :( Hope everyone has a a great weekend, I have these two in my pockets

Sorry to hear that work interfered with your weekend plans, Jack.:( Beneficial brace of knives you posted; your buffalo lambsfoot is the head honcho of Guardian Lambsfoot knives!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Since today is Saturday, I had to walk in my pocket a stag, so I chose this GEC # 25 of 2008 (serialized with the number 9 of 25)!!!

What a royal knife that is, Pt-Luso!!:thumbsup::cool:

My K.N.I.F.E. (Knife's New - I Feel Excited) Knife of the Week (a relatively-new knife that isn't yet entered into my rotation schedule) is a Rough Rider red bone medium stockman with low-riding sheepfoot, slender clip, and virtually sunk joints:
