EC474E9B-15F5-4D8A-9836-AE712465C319.jpeg Two 303’s for this mornings journey. I’m off to help my little brother put in a new kitchen sink and faucet ( yes I know, electricans and plumbing don’t mix) and sure as the Lord made little green apples he will ask to use my knife. At that point I will gift him what MUST be the 20th 303 in as many years! I have absolutely no idea what he does with them but he never has one in his pocket...

Im new to collecting. Could you guys give me some input on what I have so far? But as for my edc I usually pack a buck cadet stockman.

From such a broad picture, my older eyes have a hard time identifying clues as to the makers/age of the knives, such as the blade stamps and shields. Clearer close-ups of individual or a few knives might help. I do see some Bucks and Cases and Rough Riders that look like a good foundation for a collection. I also see some nice everyday users, such as the Spyderco, Kershaw, as well as the Bucks, Cases, and Rough Riders. Go back through a week or so's worth of posts on this thread and you will see what I mean by pictures of the blade stamps and shields. You will also get an idea of the knives that folks on this thread routinely discuss - it is a fairly broad range of traditional knives. Congrats on your interest in knives and knife collecting.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :) I'm carrying these two today

The top photo is invoking! The whistle and art deco lighter make me think of a soldier during an air raid blowing his whistle while fire burns around him. Tell us more about the super knife?

E Emspop I sure hope that he isn't selling those 303s, Clay. I have a good buddy to whom I have ceased giving a Gerber EZ Out each year after 3 consecutive years. I, too, have no idea how or where they went missing (he admits that he lost them), but I had to draw a line. I did tell him where he could buy them.

Thanks my friend, the 'lighter' is actually a Vesta or match case :) The knife is a British 8173-1914 pattern clasp knife (sometimes known as a 'Gift Knife'). They have a Spearpoint blade and an early pattern tin-opener, and were made by a number of Sheffield cutlers, this one being made by Joseph Allen. I also have one with a Keen Kutter stamp, which was probably made for Canadian troops

Thanks for the information my friend! Another super knife!! The bone and that beautiful bail...wow. Do the copper/brass bail help to date them ? I think I remember they do

Well, see that little Schrade Old Timer still in it’s plastic clamshell?

That’s a 33ot Middleman 2 Blade Jack, and it’s a great little knife. Same size frame as the more common 34ot 3 blade medium Stockman.About 3/4” longer than a peanut, arguably the perfect size for carry.

In fact, my old 33ot jack is in my pocket right now. Mine’s over 40 years old. If yours is new, it’s Chinese. Don’t know about quality. Why not take it out and use the snot out of it?

Thanks pal. The bails help in dating the later WW2 pattern (like the one below - a steel-bailed Richards clasp knife from 1945) The can-opener blade usually carries an actual date though ;)
