What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

We've been in Minnesota for close to a week now. This #15 Crown Lifter has been in my pocket all week, and has opened a lot of boxes. There's still more to do, but we're slowly getting settled.

Glad to hear that you're getting adjusted, Barrett; nice "local color" in the background of your pic.:thumbsup: Does the MN Bureau for New Residents require you to trade in some of your former phrases (AZ: But it's a DRY heat.) for new ones (MN: But it's a DAMP cold.)? ;)

... I was pleasantly surprised to see this old case xx laying on a table. Picked it up at a very reasonable price. I didn't see the initials until I got home. I'll forgive U.D. for that since the bone is so nice.

That Case Barlow is Utterly Desirable, Rob!!:cool::thumbsup: You've got the Grand Canyon in the pile side cover!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

5K Qs 5K Qs That was a BLOW-OUT of SUPER proportions, GT!! All that's left is the end zone dance.

:D:thumbsup: Thanks, Stuart. Glad I had a chance to play around on a Sunday afternoon.

Thanks 5K. It's a pork pie. Arguably England's national dish. Apparently we eat about 30 million of them a week :D but I'd rather of had a bowl of that fine work of art you've rustled up there!
And thanks to 5K I've just realized it's the Superbowl today (tomorrow actually). It's being shown live over here in the UK on our BBC1 channel; 11.15pm to 03.50am . I've a couple of beers and I'm not in work tomorrow....so....go....Patriots...??
Hope you all enjoy the game
How'd you like the game, donn? I stayed up for only the first half, but found it quite entertaining!:thumbsup: Thanks for the pork pie ID. Is that food item the origin of the "pork pie hat" style? I can see a resemblance between pie and hat!:thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

Thanks Gary! :) That’s a great shot of your Lambsfoot and that Pork and Bean Salad!:D
Thanks, Ron. :) My wife and daughter always want to slavishly follow recipes, but I'd rather have a nice knife and some fresh fruits/vegetables to cut up, mix together, and maybe "nuke".

View attachment 842713 I’ll be carrying this Kabar tomorrow.
Swayback,delrin, lambsfoot main...
Rope/navy knife??? Not sure. Any info from Kabar knowledgable porch goers would be most welcome.
I do know it’s a great knife in the hand.

EDIT: found two different photos of this knife online, and both called it a New England Whaler.
I always enjoy the knife-and-dog photos, Jeff. :):thumbsup: Looks like a good old dog and a great old knife!:thumbsup::cool:

Muy bien! (My daughter suggests I reply, "Me alegro por ti.)

For me today, hope everyone is doing well.
Couple of clean, well-lighted knives, Tom!:thumbsup::thumbsup: (Sorry for the obscure literary allusion.)

Utica Jack today

Steve, you sure have some awesome knives, and you present them to their best advantage!!:cool::cool:

I have these two in my pockets today:the Sway Back Gent I received as a gift this Christmas, the Sodbuster Jr I gifted to myself last week (the blame for that extravagance I lay at the feet of 5K Qs 5K Qs who has posted fab photos of his version). I admit that I am weak.

Stuart, for a weak man, you sure have a powerful bunch of knives!! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup: Glad I could be an inspiration. :p Congrats on those beautiful chestnut jigged bone duos, Stuart and Wayne!:cool::thumbsup:

I have a feeling It’s going to take something pretty special to knock this one out of my pocket for even a day .

Another overwhelming Damascus dreamboat, Ron!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, Gary! Kudos to the Rosewood Case. The salad makes me hungry.
Thanks for the kind comments, Dean. :) My poor focus in the photo makes it nearly impossible to read the tang stamp, but the rosewood knife is actually an A Wright & Son lambsfoot that my wife and daughter bought for me in York, England. (It was my Knife of 2017, too.)

I had Bob's Modified HJ with me today as I set in a foundation for a Sculpture Post in Sue's Garden.
Thank you Bob my friend for helping me out today

That's such an amazing knife, @Anothername !!:cool::thumbsup: The color of the bone, the checkered jigging, the spearpoint blade, the patina - everything about it is appealing!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I found this in a knife roll at my favorite pawn shop this weekend.
K= K Horn Cellulite.
Supposed to mimic rams horn I presume.
No out gassing yet so I added it to the rotation.:)

What a find, mykel!!:cool::thumbsup: The covers make me nostalgic, and IMHO that's a perfect stockman frame - sunk joints, round bolsters, slender serpentine shape, low-riding sheepfoot with tip below the liners, lean and mean and clean clip point!!:cool::thumbsup: Another almost identical example is the Uncle Henry I post below. :)

These two for me today :)
...
I really like your stag knife, Jack, but there's something transcendent about the photo of the red bone jack!!!:thumbsup::cool::cool:

These two for me lately.

The way that pair forms a matched set is uncanny, Ron!! Totally gorgeous!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: And the way you captured the "inner glow" on the mark side of each knife in the top photo is impressive!!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Stockman of the Week for me is this Uncle Henry (thanks, Dean):

Having not watched a full game of (American) football in nearly 20 years I REALLY enjoyed it! I watched the first half live, and watched the second half over a long breakfast when I got up. Tolerating Justin Timberlake at 1.15am was just asking to much :D
I'm not an NFL expert by any means and I'm sure I'll upset a lot of folks but I thought the Eagles deserved to win; saying that both teams played a great game. I think I may start watching a few NFL games come the new season. We do get a highlights shown over here and they started showing live games a year or two ago.
The pork pie hat is probably named after the pie not the other way round. The pork pie is ancient, hundreds if not over a thousand years old. Apparently in days of old the pastry was just the 'case' to hold the meat. You ate the meat and through the pastry away
And how big is that Joker? I've one, but that picture makes that one you have there seem a lot bigger.

No knife for me today. I'm about to step out the door to a conference for work and I'll get wanded at the door, so a picture from yesterday.

Hope everyone has a great day

Today Im packing a yellow case sodbuster jr. Ive already used it this morning to help my wife in the kitchen, slicing veggies. I got it on Amazon years ago, and it's never let me down. I carried it yesterday too, and it helped me out all day. Probably the best $20 you can spend. Plus, it has a gorgeous patina on it
