My Wife got me a yellow CV soddie jr. for Christmas and I'm really liking it. Once the temps climb out of glove-wearing temperature I plan to use it as my work EDC, my Vantage is just easier to open and get to while wearing gloves. The soddie is an excellent steak/porkchop knife, I've been using mine for food quite a bit.

Happy Birthday Kevin, bet you weren't expecting that;)

I'd be curious to see how many people are using the leather slip the Fruitport came with? I use mine but it takes a bit of getting used to. I certainly haven't got used to the knife, still getting a lot of pleasure from mine, a keeper for sure:). yours looks like a beauty Kevin, the ivory really is classy.

Good morning guys and thanks again :)

Carrying the 71 and Fruitport

Sam, on the slip, try squeezing it from the sides tight in your hand and the knife will drop right in and out :)

I don't normally use slips but I am for this one and I don't care :)

The knife looks nice. The food looks great!

I just wish the sheath was better. I`m playin with the idea to ask Martin Swinkels if he could make me a horizontal leather sheath. Oh and loving the peanut. I got it finaly 5 weeks after ordering it, an it hasn`t left my pocket since.

Just opened this up. My girlfriend of about 9 years now got it for my birthday tomorrow.

I have to say, I took this photo in haste and didn't catch the beauty of the ivory, but its most impressive.

When I have more time I will try and get better shots to share with you guys.

Some days more then others I realize I am quite a lucky guy :)

Happy Birthday! You are a lucky man!
What a beautiful blade, let us know how it performs.

I'm carrying the little Henckels whittler that Corey Bauhs gave to me a week ago:

This Camillus made Remington. It is one of my favorites. The scales are a bit loud, but I can always find it when I set it down.

Figured that one with a little bit of time:). I'm with you on not normally going for the slip option but I'm enjoying the whole ceremony of it if that makes sense! Almost the opposite of the Spyderco urgency:)

I really like the way it carries and how it feels in my hand I bought it because I dont have a sodbuster and when I get my next knife I was planning on having it has a small blade to compliment my big folder I have on order

Happy birthday Kevin and JD. I celebrated 50 on Tuesday, and today I am carrying the John Lloyd Rosewood Shadow that my wife and son gave me as a gift (edited to say, thanks again Sonnemann!).

My grandfather, who got me started on a love for pocket knives, would have celebrated birthday number 100 today if he was still here with us.

That is a gorgeous Fruitport Kevin! I have been giving serious consideration to grabbing one of the Bone Wharnies.

Thanks :)

My example is very nice. Great FF and asthetics. The walk is somewhat cool to me. Past the half stop it kind of takes off! Kind of neat :)

The blade came very very sharp and cuts better then I had hoped. Great handling knife. A real joy all around.

Btw Sam, I had to laugh at myself I sat there for a while like a dumbie wondering how I was going to get my knife out without damaging it. Then I squeezed it and had a duh moment :)

Glad everyone talked me into one of these and that my girl is cool enough to get it for me. The first thing she said is go take a picture so you can show it to your buddies on the forum :)

Thanks for the BDay greeting my friend.
So were almost the same age,and I see you are from N.C.too?
Where bouts N.C.?

I too Love the Fruitport, been my desktop background for several years now.
First thing I see when I turn my computer on after a cooling down period.

this Kabar has been my carry almost everyday since I got it for $10.oo off
everyones favorite auction site.
it had a wobble in the blade that i tightened up and it makes a great EDC.
I think it is possible someone has re-handled it sometime during it's lifetime.
It has been a good user for a few months...
