What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

40302165335_9273fd2117_b.jpg

@Planterz I hear those are really hard to sharpen. :confused:;):p:rolleyes:
I saw a Bavarian Edge sharpener commercial on TV recently. I'll bet that could sharpen it with ease! ;)

SS Colonial Dole advertising knife.
A large frame with a single clipped blade=perfection....
Except I'm going do away with the Dole by jigging it and dying that white delrin brown.

Looking forward to seeing the results of your mod! :cool::thumbsup:

Elegant! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Last day with this one. It is going to a new home (my brother-in-law wants it).

Wow, you're nicer to your in-laws than I am to mine (and than they are to me)! :cool::thumbsup::rolleyes:

I’m starting off the week with these two, a Northfield 77 Barlow and an Oakedge Lambsfoot. :D

Commendable Camillus, Steve! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: (And an unusual-for-you indoor photo! :eek:;))

Ive got this old dude with me today.

I recently soaked/scrubbed/oiled and sharpened it for my Wife's Aunt who's Dad (I believe) bought it new and carried it regularly. They gave it back to me at Easter and said it would do the knife more justice to be carried again so thats what Ill do! ...

Good old knife and I am happy to keep it going rather than retire it to the underwear drawer. ...
Matt
Congrats, Matt; that's a sensational serpentine Hammer Brand! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: I have a similar old Imperial straight from equal end model with nearly identical covers that I consider one of my best gun&knife show finds. :)
imp.equalend.mark.open.jpg

These two made a strong case for carry today. Case 62042 small pen and Case 6207 mini trapper, both from 1965-1969 period.

Case closed!! :thumbsup::thumbsup: What a pair, Stuart! :cool::thumbsup: Delicious bone on both; not the blades I expected to see when I read "mini trapper"! :rolleyes:

I've got a full load-out today. I could easily keep these four, sell 85% of my "collection", and still be satisfied. Where's the fun in that, though?

IMG_20180402_104433_2.jpg
Quality quartet, Shawn, and a thought-provoking question! :thumbsup::thumbsup::confused: Sometimes I wonder if I'd have more "fun" with my knives if I had fewer knives, each of which I could carry more frequently and with which I could build a stronger relationship. ;)

I really enjoyed seeing everyone's pics while I was away :) Glad to be back home, and out of the rain! :rolleyes: I've had these two in my pockets today :thumbsup:

A couple of champs, Jack! :cool::cool::thumbsup: And look on the bright side, you need the rain so you can stage all the shots in your famous "knives with watery backgrounds" series! ;):thumbsup::D (I guess that's NOT looking on the bright side, but you know what I mean. :rolleyes:)

Still loving the Camillus engineers knife.

I look up to you and your knife, Buzz! ;):thumbsup::cool:

Feels right at home.
It's a drill! It's a plane! It's a super Barlow! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::p

My avatar, ebony Northwoods Presidential.

Phenomenal, preeminent Presidential, Dean!!! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:

Funny you should ask...A friend of mine gave it to me last fall. He collects Schrades, and thought it was an interesting example. 1973 was the last year of the "Schrade Walden" stamp, and it is commemorating the 40th anniversary of Miracle Whip in 1973. He said, "Why don't you post a question asking how old it is." :D I've been mulling over how to use it in a joke since then, so I refrained from posting any pictures until now (the secret to a good one is to try to make it funny or entertaining, even if it doesn't fool anyone)
Whoa! You take your jokes SERIOUSLY, r8shell!! :D:cool::cool:

5K Qs 5K Qs That's a stylish stag senator, GT, and pretty pointy peanut (with its re-purposed mitt slip), but the Sliver Bullet stands out with its simple, sinuous silhouette. Thanks for the compliments.

Thanks for thy thoughtfulness, Thtuart!! ;):cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: (I thound like Thylvethter the Cat when I shoot for alliteration with "th". :confused::rolleyes:)

...This is what was in the mail and now I am carrying it

Harry
Congrats on more awesome antler, Harry!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I’m not sure. This is my first stockman and I assumed the tip peeked out above the liners on the sheepfoot blade because the previous owner sharpened it a lot and ground off some of the blade tip.
Your first stockman?? Cool! What do you think of the pattern?

I like it!
Looks like it will age nicely after some years of handing!
Thanks, Mitch. :) I'm 66 years old and have MANY knives; not sure if any of them will end up with "years of handling" from me! :rolleyes::rolleyes:

The Churchill is just a super useful and easily pocketed model.
That is not a book it is the soundtrack lp. Maybe we should start a traditional and vinyl record thread...Hmmm
There was someone posting some cool record art / knife pics in here not too long ago but I can't remember who.
That's actually an inspired idea for a thread, FBC. :thumbsup::cool::cool: Did @kenspen used to post some cover art? Haven't seen posts from him in quite a while. I know that Duane's @sitflyer avatar is from the King Crimson album. ;)

The Silver Bullet is looking great, GT!
Thanks, Shawn. :) It's size is probably close to your favorite range, too! ;)

Brought the TL29 to leave behind with my boy- everybody needs one of those!

The diamond cards are great, especially on the road. No stones and oil to drag around.

Yep- “original” Leatherman.
Very cool, Jeff. :cool::thumbsup::cool: Here's my original Leatherman:

LOL! I know what you mean GT, I've had in-laws that were more like outlaws! :eek: ;) :D Thanks for the compliments my friend, I can see that you're a glass half-full kind of guy, or maybe even a glass overflowing like crazy! :D Always a treat to see what you have in your pockets :thumbsup:

From what I've read, the mini trapper usually came with either a clip/spey or a clip/pen configuration, the latter being more common pre-1980. It's a handy knife. And thanks for the "Thylvethter the Cat" memory. I pine for that puddy tat.
I like your choices of the mighty MAM and the classy Klaas, but that tasteful toothpick is truly tantalizing.
